The Samsung Galaxy J5 is an Android smartphone produced by Samsung Electronics.[1] It was unveiled and released in June 2015.[2] It has an advanced 64-bit class system on a chip (SoC) backed by 1.5 GB RAM and uses a Snapdragon 410.

The Galaxy J5 has a 13 megapixels rear camera with LED flash, f/1.9 aperture, auto-focus and a 5 megapixels wide-angle front facing camera which can extend up to 120°, also equipped with LED flash.[2]

Hardware

The phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 chipset, a 1.2 GHz processor, Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5 GB RAM with 8 GB of internal storage and a 2600 mAh battery. The J500G comes with a 2100 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy J5 is fitted with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display.[2] The South Korean variant adds support for T-DMB & Smart DMB. The phone has a metallic chassis and a plastic back cover.[3]

According to the BLE Checker app, the model supports Bluetooth Low Energy devices.[4]

Software

This phone comes with Android 5.1.1, which is upgradable to Android 6.0.1.[2] It supports 4G LTE with dual SIM enabled 4G and Voice over LTE. It also supports Samsung Knox.[4] On 2016 the phone received update to support samsung S Bike Mode[5]

All models later received an optional update to Android 7.1.1 based on official Samsung firmware from the A530F via a custom update.[6]
