July 2023

Hello! Please see my rollback here! Way to many fake drawings. They must me removed for the material to be acceptable. SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:19, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SergeWoodzing: Sorry! I've restored the list but with the fantasy images removed (I thought it would be good to have as many images as possible but I realize the problem). I think the version I added is otherwise much superior in terms of referencing to what was there before. Rheskouporis (talk) 16:09, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I am sad to see the much clearer dynasty markings gone, especially as the dynastic affiliations of the consorts were interesting, but then again you've completely 86'd all the spouses anyway. Why? The dynastic color-coding, which took (me) a lot of work, also showed how the so-called "Holstein-Gottorp" people actually were Oldenburgs and the "Palatine" folks were Wittelsbachs. Not an improvement to see that gone. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:17, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: I did not realize the previous list was your work! Sorry for bulldozering it out of nowhere. The spouses are all still there (under "life details"). The format of this version follows lists such as List of Roman emperors and List of French monarchs (which do not have any color-coding) but yes, I can see its value in this case. I could just add the color-coding back or extend the color-coding system that's used for the houses of Erik and Sverker to the rest of the list? I at least think its easier to see in this version why some successions happened (for instance Adolf Frederick, Charles XIV). Rheskouporis (talk) 14:37, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How can you color-code the spouses if they don't have their own boxes. Anyway, you see what I mean. Do what you can. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:45, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: Here are two potential versions (using Valdemar as an example). If you think either of these are acceptable I could work on applying something similar to the entire thing. Rheskouporis (talk) 06:45, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Portrait Name Arms Reign Succession Life details
Valdemar
Valdemar Birgersson
1250 – 22 July 1275

(aged c. 63)
Married to Sophia of Denmark (6 children). Deposed after losing the Battle of Hova (1275). Continued to try to regain parts of the kingdom before being imprisoned in 1288.

The lower one looks great.Good to have a separate box for the spouses. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:52, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: There is now color-coding and separate boxes for spouses throughout the list! I tried to use muted and light colors to ease reading but feel free to change things around if you disagree with any of the choices. Rheskouporis (talk) 11:46, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great work! The Stenkil and Munsö dynasties' colors are too similar, in my opinion. Maybe light tan for one of them? And it should be possible for Queen Ingegerd Birgersdotter to have her own box, rather that just her name's background being highlighted. Also, it's confusing that practically the same color is used for regencies and the Oldenburgs. I suggest white for the regencies. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 12:37, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: All done! Also changed the colors of the Estrids so it's not too close to the new Munsö color. Rheskouporis (talk) 15:19, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great now! Regent Kettil Karlsson Vasa (1464) could be color-coded Vasa (which would mean adding the Vasas above to that section) and both regent dukes Charles (1599, 1809) could have their dynasties' colors. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 19:15, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: Didn't even think of that but yes, absolutely. Done! Rheskouporis (talk) 19:34, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please color code Regent Kettil (1464) also! --SergeWoodzing (talk) 19:41, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeWoodzing: Easy one to miss! Done! Rheskouporis (talk) 19:48, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of monarchs of Kush, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alara. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
