Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image illustrates points discussed in the article's text including the unity reflected in the song and the film clip, despite the fact that one member of the Beatles (Ringo Starr) had only recently returned from leaving the group, dissatisfied at the acrimony in the band. As stated in the text, the Beatles' audience and the public generally were unaware of this friction, which had only come to an end with Starr's return, two days before the clip was shot. Referring to the mix of age, race and colour of the fans invited to join the band at the end of the performance (as shown in this image), author Mark Hertsgaard describes the clip for "Hey Jude" as "a quintessential sixties moment, a touching tableau of contentment and togetherness". In his commentary on the song, music critic Tim Riley states that the film "kicked 'Hey Jude' into the stratosphere" in terms of popularity, after which the song became one of the Beatles' most successful singles and instantly established their new record label, Apple Records. |

Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | This file will only be used in this song article, specifically in a section dedicated to the song's promotional film. The full image is needed to aid the reader's understanding of the commentary supplied in the article. No free content exists that could serve this purpose, nor could a free-content alternative be created, given that two of the main performers are no longer alive. |
