Lutetium acetylacetonate is a coordination compound with the chemical formula Lu(C5H7O2)3, or Lu(acac)3 for short. It is isomorphic to ytterbium acetylacetonate.[1] It can be prepared by the reaction of trialkoxylutetium and acetylacetone.[2]

Its dihydrate and 1,10-Phenanthroline (phen) or 2,2'-bipyridine (dipy) are refluxed in ethanol solution to obtain mixed ligand complexes Lu(acac)3(phen) and Lu(acac)3(dipy).[3]
