Marcus Neal Kronemeyer (born April 12, 1950) is an American entrepreneur, businessman and real estate developer.
Kronemeyer graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in the area of Arts and Sciences.
After graduation, he moved to Mazatlán, México. In that city, he worked for several local companies in the hotel industry under the timeshare system. In 1977 he oversaw the marketing for the Islas Del Sol project, and in 1979 for the Inn at Mazatlán development; both cases in association with future brother-in-law and business partner Ernesto Coppel Kelly.[1]
Together with Ernesto Coppel Kelly, he co-founded Pueblo Bonito Hotels and Resorts.[2] He is currently the CEO of Kron international.
Education.
[edit]Kronemeyer enrolled in the San Diego State University in 1973. While at the SDSU, he was Executive Vice-president of the Student Body [3] (1976 - 1977). This office included representation of student body at cultural, recreational, financial and activities committees.
He obtained his bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a triple major in Journalism, Mass Communications, and Telecommunications in May 1977.
Career.
[edit]After graduating, Kronemeyer moved to Mazatlán, in the north-west coast of México.
Mazatlán was a mid-size city, with a thriving hotel industry. Kronemeyer saw plenty of opportunities in that area, under the timeshare system. He landed a job as Marketing Director of the Islas Del Sol project (Balnearios de Las Americas, S.A. de C.V.) from 1977 through 1979. After this job, Kronemeyer was responsible for the marketing of the Inn at Mazatlán Development from 1979 through 1989. In both cases in association with Ernesto Coppel Kelly.[4]
Hotel Entrepreneur.
[edit]Kronemeyer and Coppel were very successful marketing the projects they were involved in during those years, setting local records for hotel occupation. They developed a strong personal and business relationship, that led to the co-founding of the first hotel in Mazatlán of Pueblo Bonito Hotels and Resorts in 1987. Due to the success of their first venture, they developed a second Pueblo Bonito hotel in Los Cabos.[5][6]
In 1994 he became a stockholder of Quinta del Golfo de Cortez, S.A. de C.V., parent company, developer and owner of the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Resort [7] at Cabo del Sol in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
Baseball player.
[edit]Kronemeyer was a semi pro baseball player in Mexico. He represented the state of Sinaloa in national competitions. Once retired from active play, he served as a Major-League scout with a special assignment in México for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Anaheim Angels until 2010.
Personal life.
[edit]Kronemeyer is married to Patricia Coppel Kelly. They have three children; Mark, Stefanie Dee and Ashley Ann. He is fluently bilingual in English and Spanish.
Kronemeyer is an avid golf player,[8] and he has won several local tournaments in Mazatlán.
