Moien!
[edit]Moien, My name is Victor, I've been a Wikimedian for a long time, and I'll be traveling to Luxembourg City in 2 weeks with a decent camera and lenses. I was wondering if you might know of some things that should be photographed or articles that could use better illustration. I may be traveling to Wormeldange too, because that's where my great-great-great grandparents are from. Any thoughts are appreciated! Victor Grigas (talk) 01:55, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Moien Victor! Thanks for this offer! I am not sure, also because there is no freedom of panorama in Luxembourg, but I asked on the Luxembourgish Wikipedia. I will report back in a few days; and you can follow the discussion too (even though it will be in Luxembourgish). Nice that you go and see where your ancestors are from! --Bdx (talk) 08:04, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi again, only one person replied, but here a summary of what could be interesting to be photographed:
- There is for each commune a list of buildings that are protected by the state for its heritage value: Schabloun:Navigatioun National Monumenter no Gemeng. In many communes, there are some buildings for which we do not have photos yet (cf. commune Larochette/Fiels. Depending on which places you visit in Luxembourg, you can take a look at the articles for the communes that you visit, and for which monuments there are no photos yet. The lists indicate the geographical coordinates.
- In general, what is also missing for most villages or towns is a nice photo that could be representative of the place, such as an panoramic view, or a photo of the village centre.
- Also old buildings are worth to be photographed, because many are progressively being torn down.
- However, note that there is no panorama of freedom in Luxembourg, so that you cannot take photos of new buildings.I believe the architect needs to be dead for at least 50 years... (Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Luxembourg)
- For all the major monuments, there are photos.
- I hope this helps. Let me know in case you have any questions, and safe travels! --Bdx (talk) 15:26, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

- Hi @ARandomName123:, thanks a lot for your reviewing and your feedback! Just a quick question: I left in the original edit a comment in the edit summary "New - translated from Luxembourgish". Is that not enough? Should it be the exact sentence WP:TFOLWP? I just ask so I know for the future. --Bdx (talk) 15:49, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, @Bdx: As long as it includes a link to the original article, it should be fine. It's best to use the sentence at WP:TFOLWP, but you can modify it as you see fit. Just remember to include the link. Thanks, ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 15:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Robert McClenon (talk) 07:25, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Redirect Question
[edit]You left a comment in your draft of Draft:Pommelien Thijs, saying that there already is a redirect at the intended title, and asking what to do about it. If you submit a draft for review by Articles for Creation reviewers, the reviewer will take care of the redirect, normally by tagging the redirect for deletion. You do not need to worry about what will be done with a redirect. It may be deleted, or a hatnote may be inserted into the draft article to take the place of the redirect, and then the redirect will be deleted. I have moved the blocking redirect out of the way to await deletion. Robert McClenon (talk) 07:30, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

- Hi @Broc:, thanks a lot for your quality control, much appreciated! I could not find again the reference for that exact statement, so I rephrased it a little bit and added the references that I could find for the new statement. --Bdx (talk) 16:50, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for May 17
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Caritas Philippines, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Manilla. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 14:23, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Bastun:, thank you! I am already active on Wikipedia in 4 different languages and on Wikimedia Commons, all with their own specificities, so I don't want to start working on yet another WikiProject. --Bdx (talk) 07:15, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Bdx, understood. That said, it's possible to just add an article to a relevant project or projects without actually joining one; if it's an inappropriate edition, people working on the project will remove it, and if it's an appropriate one, it will be flagged on that project's pages and get an assessment and more eyes on the article. In any case, keep up the good work! Regards, BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 09:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi. When adding coordinates to an infobox, please consider WP:OPCOORD. While Google Maps might return a coordinate to 15 decimal places, that is a level of accuracy that would allow for remote surgery :) Not only do excessively long coordinate values cause display issues (wrapping and overlapping in infoboxes and on mobile), per the guideline, "Overly precise coordinates can be misleading by implying that the object is smaller than it truly is". Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 20:59, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Guliolopez:, thank you for this information, I was not aware and will try to do better in the future. But to be honest, I don't understand the link that you send me. For the coordinates in an infobox about an organisation, how many decimal places would you recommend that I add?
- E.g. for SCIAF I added: {{coord|55.85571188880453|-4.253429103007824|display=inline,title}}
- Should I change it to {{coord|55.855711|-4.253429|display=inline,title}}?
- --Bdx (talk) 08:12, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. 5 decimal places should be more than accurate enough to locate an office or building.
- For context, the difference between
{{coord|55.855711|-4.253429}}
(6 decimal places) and{{coord|55.85571|-4.25342}}
(5 decimal places) is about 12 centimetres. Office buildings do not really need to be more accurately pin-pointed than that. - For comparison, the distance between
{{coord|55.855711888804530|-4.253429103007824}}
(15 decimal places) and{{coord|55.85571188880453|-4.25342910300782}}
(14 decimal places) is about 2 nanometres. A nanometre is one billionth of a metre. A microscopic amount. I can't think of any geographical subject that needs to be pin-pointed to that level of precision. - All the best. Guliolopez (talk) 08:54, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for these explanations, much appreciated, @Guliolopez:, I will also now go back on my previous edits to adapt this. Have a lovely day :) --Bdx (talk) 08:58, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
