Etymology

Borrowed from Russian ДЗОТ (DZOT), an initialism of де́рево-земляна́я огнева́я то́чка (dérevo-zemljanája ognevája tóčka, literally wood-earth firing point).

    На тым баку, каля Навасёлак, былі пабудаваны дзоты, дзе сядзелі кулямётчыкі, тут жа, проста на дарозе, ствалом у лес стаяла гармата.
    Na tym baku, kalja Navasjólak, byli pabudavany dzóty, dzje sjadzjeli kuljamjótčyki, tut ža, prósta na darózje, stvalóm u ljes stajala harmata.
    On the other side, near Navasyolak, were built pillboxes where machine gunners sat, right there, right on the road, a cannon stood with its barrel into the forest.
    Дзень і ноч білі цяжкія гарматы па дзотах і бетаніраваных умацаваннях, трушчачы бетон і камень.
    Dzjenʹ i noč bili cjažkija harmaty pa dzótax i bjetaniravanyx umacavannjax, truščačy bjetón i kamjenʹ.
    Day and night, heavy guns pounded at the pillboxes and concrete fortifications, shattering concrete and stone.
