[edit]From Old Galician-Portuguese viço, from Latin vitium (this form possibly semi-learned; compare the doublet vezo (“vice”)), from Proto-Indo-European *wi-tio-, from *wei (“guilt, vice, fault”). Also doublet of vicio.
