Some authors like to have things their way.It was ok-ok book with nice plot but with a greafing hero over his dead wife.I know it sounds a little bit rude to say it this way but one who are dead won't come back and would like you to be happy any how.
Only the name caught my interest but not the summary. The story was a mediator nothing more. All tough the book had my full interest specially when the author used her way of expressing eg. For kissable lips she used bee stung lips that was first for me .Bee stung seriously it would feel like a insult to me.
Lets see Ashley was a collage graduate and was hired to be a waitress at a party where she meet Xander who made his name in two ways one as a billionaire and second as a man you should never ever serve a drink. But Ashley could not stop her self and try to put her hand inside a lions den and taught he wont bite.
Xander never taught any body would catch his attention after loosing his wife and living like a dead man.But Ashley curvy body caught his attention. He was a man who liked to stay alone and never interacted with anybody who ever came was sure to get a nice bite.
But he never taught that the curvy girl with bee stung lips would come to him even after his reputation. But she was standing in front of him with a tray full of drinks and ready to serve him. Despite his bad reputation he wanted her but knew he was cheating which technically or not count not be called a cheating.
With his mom he could not move on with his life because she wanted most of his attention and at many a time she would try to pull him back into the he was. After a lot s of denials that he did not love Ashley he had to accept the fact that he loved her.
This books is a good one with nice use of words and phases and is a double POV which makes it more interesting and ends on a very sudden note making you wonder what would be there in the 3rd book but after reading the 3rd book you would come to know Xander and Ashleys story ended in the second book only.
A fresh art major graduate, Ashley Monroe takes the job as a waitress on a prestigious Art Exhibit event. Thanks to her friend but she's been warned to stay clear from the attractive, brooding man. He was known to be rude with the staff but with Ashley's curious mind, she isn't fazed by him. When she stumbled into him, she's mesmerized on his stature. It seems that this man happens to be Xander Boone. A billionaire. The owner of the exhibit.
I really like this novella. It's quick to read, entertaining and romantic. It may be a little cliche but still enjoyable and there's more to it. The characters aren't much likable but I hope there will be an improvement on the next book. [ I like bossy Xander. haha! But he better be less rude and Ashley better stop being insecure and embrace her body figure. ;) ]
This was a kindle freebie. I'm not the biggest fan of authors releasing books a couple of chapters at a time and promoting them as novellas and that is exactly what this is. It's the first part of a longer novel and it ends on an abrupt cliffhanger as an attempt to lure readers into buying the additional 3 installments. Very nice hustle.
This was a typical "Capt. Save-a-ho" escapist read. The elusive playboy billionaire with a dark secret past takes one look at a down on her luck girl and decides that he can't live without her and makes it his business to save her from her bad situation. The story was just ok. It wasn't particularly well written and there were some typos, but the story was interesting enough to hold my attention. I liked that the female main character was a size 16. That is something that you don't see very often in romance novels. However, I didn't like the fact that she constantly referred to herself as "fat" and "plus sized". Size 16 isn't really all that big. Even though the plot was overly mellow dramatic at some points and completely unrealistic in most other points, it was a quick, entertaining, free read if you find yourself with some time to waste. (I was having my car serviced and this made more interesting reading than old editions of boring magazines that are always available in waiting areas.) I wouldn't advise anyone to pay for it, though.
Delightfully cheesy, over the top situations, perfect billionaire alphahole. Every girl's fantasy - spa treatments, instalust, wined and dined, and here's a luxury car for you because you need one and you represent ME!!!
A harmless story about a broke young woman who crosses paths with a billionaire where she works as a waitress. He seems to have an insta-attraction to this particular young woman, despite her behaviour being rude towards him, and the fact that he's undoubtedly crossed paths with many similar looking women before. Some steamy scenes occur, but unfortunately there is little to no chemistry between them. They know nothing about each other beyond the fate of their family issues, which I find increasingly used in books of the genre for characters to bond with (a frustrating cliche). They find each other attractive, and they have family issues, that's all we really know about them.
A scene that really irritated me and seemed so out of place with the story is when Ashley follows a florist address, instantly thinking that he is cheating on her. Rather than simply asking him, she follows him there herself and intrudes upon his privacy. There is no trust in their relationship, and Ashley comes across as insecure.
Overall, I wanted to write more about my thoughts towards the book, but it's particularly forgetful. There's extremely little conflict, the characters are flat, and the different POV shifts are uncomfortable and choppy. The characters aren't developed enough for me to actually care about them in the first place, so it's difficult to care about the loose plot or any subsequent events.
I did enjoy this book - characters and plot... I'm glad it was free because I wouldn't have read it as I don't like to pay for 'chapters' instead of getting the whole book.
But it annoys me how authors write a series of 50 page books. It almost feels like a money hunt because you have to keep spending $2-3 for a few chapters. At the end I usually feel like bits were skipped or missed because they were trying to wrap it up faster. Not to mention, it feels like you haven't finished the book because... That's right... You still have to buy more chapters!
Ok, i know its my choice to read these free short stories (knowing that it will annoy me) and am over my rant.
Wrapping up, yes I'm glad I read it, no I won't be buying the next two, yes it will drive me mad thinking about how the story went, and yes... I will probably try and remember to keep an eye out incase the author decides to write an actual book.
I wanted to really like this book but I just couldn't. It has a lot of potential but it's too back and forth. He wants her, he can't have her, she wants him, she isn't good enough. It's just too wishy washy. And then.....it just ends! Like really just ENDS! I was watching the percentage left and thinking, there is no way this can be resolved and sure enough....it ended, unresolved. I just couldn't get into the characters. It's not that they were unrealistic, I'm ok with that usually, it's just that you really had no clue as to who the characters were by the end of it which doesn't lead me to want to keep reading. Had I been hooked by the characters I would immediately brought up my Kindle Whispernet and bought the next in the series, but it just wasn't there. Without a sense of who the characters were I wasn't motivated to continue the story.
I have very little patience for instant lust. The kind of books that goes something like this: I don't know her, but I've got to have her...... Or I have not spoken to her, but I need to be inside her....or the hot stranger sitting there is so smouldering hot, i have never seen him before, and he looks scary, but I wonder what his beard felt like against my thigh........ Come on! Really?
Call me a prude, but books like this never pan out to be a good read for me. So I got out early. Too many fishes in the pond, cut our losses and move on quick.
The cover art is completely inappropriate for this book.
Giggling women annoy me. A lot of women in this book do an awful lot of giggling.
I don't know. I think part of what turned me off about this book is how much it overcompensated. I'm a size 16. Yep, I'm overweight, but I don't feel like people treat me like a pariah because of it. Maybe I've been married for too long and just don't give a crap what people think of my physical appearance anymore.
But I felt the book went in the exact opposite direction - instead of enforcing a positive image for larger women (which I'll go out on a limb and assume it was trying to create), it just sort of reinforced the idea that she should feel bad because she was fat, that society feels she's ugly, and that this guy was OMG her savior for seeing her as a person and not her weight! Except... that he doesn't know her as a person at all, he just thinks she's hot. I mean, there wasn't a lot of dialogue between them at all, and he was never around. So.
Not interested in pursuing the next few chapters in this book unless it were free. It was to short to judge as a complete story (also, because it was not a complete story; it just didn't draw me in enough to care).
This was an okay read. Ashley is looking for work and happens to meet up with Xander. He falls quickly for Ashley but doesn’t want to lose another part of himself.
Ashley Monroe has finished college (art history) and has no money. She’s waitressing with a friend and sleeping on her floor, when she meets an intriguing man at an art gallery party. He insists that she call him Xander and then he follows her out the back… *** I should know better… honestly, these billionaire erotica serials are… well… disappointing. Let me explain. It’s his art gallery. He sits in the corner sullenly and the staff are told to leave him alone. Ashley doesn’t. He tells her to sit with him. He knows that making her sit with him and drink champagne will cost her the job. He asks her to call him Xander. Then he follows her to the staff area, pushes her up against a wall and finger fucks her within fifteen minutes of meeting her. On the way home he calls her employer and demands all her details. Then she takes an old ad from the board to be a 24/7 housekeeper and OMG who knew… it’s at his house. *rolls eyes* She lives in the empty mansion, she employs staff and she has an arts degree and literally NO CLUE what she is doing. Nor does she actually do any WORK. He buys her clothes, gives her a car… and she has no job contract and no idea what her salary is. I mean we don’t need to know but even one line where she’s given a job contract to read, or whatever. He destroys the career of a woman who suggests she can’t dress Ashley’s size 16 frame… He wants her… she wants to be new Ashley. Not that I am sure what was wrong with old Ashley. It flips back and forth between these… along with a few ‘no, you’re my employee - oh, by the way - pack, we’re going to Hawaii.’ It’s just ridiculous. He’s not sexy, he’s rude and over aggressive… and blah… his mother is clown level bad. It’s a poor person’s idea of how rich people live, you know?
First of all I loved this story it was a very cute story; HOWEVER, I am disappointed with this book cover. ok yes I myself am a very plump and deliciously curvy woman so why didn't I see one on this book cover. Um, hello, the stories were about billionaires who are in love with plus sized women. Both who were wearing 16-22 clothes. doggonit. I'm sure we could have found a sexy plus sized woman in the arms of a sexy man to put on the cover. Why'd it have to be a skinny woman. lol. I'm not hating on the skinny woman but as they say... I'm just sayin. I felt misled by the cover. but we all know that we cannot base a book by its cover. So with that being said, I did like the story I loved them all and I loved Ashley and Samantha and Drake. I think they were very cute in their discovery of their love for each other. However Samantha did get on my nerves because she just kept pushing that man away. But he was a trooper Drake stayed by her and I knew that he was not going to leave his Samantha.
I appreciate the author offering this one for free. It just wasn't for me.
Critique: Hero literally fingered in her within the first 5-10 minutes of meeting her at an event she was waitressing with no kindness or preamble in those 5-10 minutes. Heroine is miserable and ashamed of her size 16 frame. Cries on his shoulder because she's fat. That part just made me depressed. Hero gives her his Audi R8 upon second [surprise] meeting with no questions asked and she accepts.
If those are issues you don't find endearing in your MC's then you can trust my opinion. If those aren't deal breakers for you then please disregard my rating and read on. Different strokes for different folks. In fairness to the book I could read past 63% (which is why I didn't give it a star rating) so it is very possible the story redeems itself.
I really enjoyed this book. I LOVE that finally someone writes a well written book with a great story line about a BBW. Not all books have to be about the gorgeous billionaire and his super hot size 0 woman. I enjoyed getting both points of view at the same time and was able to very much relate to Ashley and her body image and confidence issue and that has never been the case in other books full of "pretty" people. Thank you Liliana Rhodes for writing about real people with real issues. Can't wait to read the next books to find out how this story ends.
This was free on Amazon so I'm not out of any money but even then I'd only pick it up if your bored and nothing else in your "to be read" pile. Chubby girl (not hating, just stating) gets a temp job and within an hour or so gets picked up by a billionaire. He pleasures her a few times in the book and buys her fancy things and gives her a well paid job but dosnt take anything ANYTHING not even intellectual stimulation! Totally unrealistic and takes away from whatever this story might have been trying for... With all that I didnt hate it... it was just... meh... ok.
I was not wowed by this book but I did like it. It was cute, fast, and who does not love a old rich man who falls in love with the poor girl. I thought it was cute but I am one of those people who hate when the author writes a little bit of the book and then makes you purchase the next few chapters and then you end up paying $10 for a book that would have sold better if it was all together and cost $4.99 or something like that.
This is the first story in an erotic romance series. A curvy woman take a temp waitressing position and, against everyone's advise, waits on a difficult patron. Naughty things happen much to her amazement. This is a short, free read. Hot and so good. But the best news is that the whole series is complete and, in a reasonably priced box set. Try this first installment and you will get the series, it is just that good.
At first I was a bit uncomfortable reading the story as it came out a bit more explicit than I usually intend to read but of course every grown woman wouldn't mind a little erotica in their books. It had everything a woman dreamed of, a handsome rich man, the love affair between a man and a woman, the surprises, the paradise.. but of course every good book needs it sadness. Definitely one I would recommend to older friends and families :)
The best part of this book was its cover. This was the biggest waste of time next to the book with the pretty purple crystal on the front. Can't really call it a book nor a novella. What a disappointment. Not recommended for anyone. The lead character was not reflected on the cover. Don't know if it was "the old her" or "the new her."
I'm not a fan of a book written in first person. I did however enjoy the story flipping from Ashley's to Xanders points of view. The is a book that just ends. You can read the next one in the series for the price of the next book. I think I will skip the rest of the books in this series. It just didn't do anything for me.
I got this book earlier today because it was free on the book store. I didn't think it was going to be that good, but wow that ending left me wondering. I want to know more. It's a really good book. I enjoyed it.
Another from a 4 book boxed set. This story is pretty sweet. It definitely has a softer focus than some of the romances I usually read, but it was still very good.
I found this on the freebie list. I passed it by several times because it's a multi book series. I did end up purchasing the boxed set of all four books because there was no way I could stop at just this one. I advise you to be aware of that. I enjoy my Pride and Prejudice variations and it's so funny it seems even when I step out Derbyshire I am reminded of it. Just further proof of the influence Jane Austen still holds over so many hearts. This book is of a down on her luck h named Ashley who is bailed out of her trouble by her friend. The girl gets Ashley a job as a waitress for a catering service. We do not see much of her friend as shortly into the party being hosted Ashley is taken in by an attractive, brooding man hiding in the distance. One thing leads to another until she works up the courage to approach him.
Xander Boone is our rich stud who is very singular. He immediately finds himself obsessed with her and her curves. She is not your normal size and that is how Alex prefers it. There is only one problem. His ghosts from the past haunt him and made him very closed off and cold to everyone. He is rude and gruff in several scenes and he is not one to sugar coat except when it is Ashley. She brings out hope and compassion not to mention unleashing a beast. Things are slow going in this book just brief foreplay but I liked the slow build. His mother is a witch and plays on his sympathy and grief to get him away from the threat of Ashley. I'm not sure whats up with this but I'm sure the picture will come clearer as the story continues. *************BEGINNING OF SPOILER*************
While Alexander is reminiscent of another quiet, wealthy man I previously mentioned he is his own character, ironically though, he has a Darcy in his past he can't quite let go of and for that reason I took a star away. I do like my H to not still be longing for another and while I feel he does love Ashley his guilt is not allowing him to move forward and its been 3 years.
**********END OF SPOILER**********
The problem I did hesitate about did not stop me from wanting to continue. My attention is captured. Enjoy!
Short quick read. (Must read next book in series for the continuation of H&h's story)
Ashley is a young woman who recently graduated college, she was on her way to graduate school but funding fell through. Ashley's friend gets her a job with her one night, and there she meets Xander.
Xander is a sexy billionaire who is instantly drawn to Ashley. The have a brief encounter, but Xander rushes out after without getting Ashley's last name.
Neither thinks they will see the other again.
They both have issues to deal with, for Ashley it's her weight (she needs to start accepting herself) and for Xander, well that isn't discovered until the end of this part, but if you will have already guessed before you get to that part.
They are falling for each other fast, which I have no problem with if I had seen any real interaction between them to warrant that. Still, that's not enough for me to not come back at some point to see how the rest of their story works out.
Before I read this book, I checked out the reviews. They aren't very good. I still decided to give it a go because I've loved books that didn't have such great reviews. The reviews weren't far from the truth this time.
If you love characters with zero depth, the classic poor college grad with no money who the billionaire instantly falls in love with and wants to rescue who has mother issues, and is extremely short and is stretched out over a total of 4 extremely short books for $3 a pop, then maybe this series is for you. If not, then skip this freebie.
He's dark and broody and she can't resist. One night of just letting herself go and allowing herself to just do leads Ashley into more than she could ever expect. This is a quick short read that introduces you to these two and give you a hint of the story. It isn't a standalone but I like it because it gives the author a chance to dig deep take her time and reel me in. This author does write amazing series so I can't wait for more.
It was a very nice story with a plot twist in the end I did not see coming. Xander is very sweet and emotional something he does not like to show. Ashley is insecure and does not know what to do with herself after finishing school. It is a good story with Characters I could identify myself with. But I did not like the writing style very much. It felt impersonal to me. That made the story difficult to read but it was worth it. Nice done.
