Children’s Acute Ultrasound (CACTUS) accreditation is now available
We are excited to launch our new Children’s Acute Ultrasound (CACTUS) accreditation pathway in collaboration with the Paediatric Critical Care Society and endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health.
#CACTUS Lung is the first of the modules now available, providing training in lung ultrasound for children's intensive care, emergency medicine, acute paediatrics, respiratory medicine and neonatal medicine and many other branches of paediatrics.
This module will provide a basic understanding of the physics of ultrasound, image optimisation, how to use an ultrasound machine and techniques for probe manipulation. You will also gain a vast amount of information covering everything from POCUS at the bedside to the assessment of a child with respiratory distress, shock or abnormal chest findings.
Following the same process as our FUSIC accreditation, CACTUS training can be completed online through interactive modules hosted on our learning management system, followed by a period of mentorship and bedside teaching. CACTUS heart, abdomen and vascular modules will be coming shortly, making this an evolving accreditation pathway to provide both the paediatric and adult critical care community with the tools they need to enhance their clinical practice.
For those of you already FUSIC Lung mentors/supervisors please do contact us if you are interested in becoming a CACTUS Lung mentor.
We look forward to you starting your Children’s Acute Ultrasound (#CACTUS) accreditation journey today!
