GPICS Section Editors Advert

Work is about to begin on Version 3 of the Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (GPICS), and we are recruiting a minimum of six Section Editors and one Diversity and Inclusivity Lead to join the newly created GPICS Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board will oversee authorship and review of GPICS, ensuring it describes best practice in ICM service provision, and providing advice and guidance on its continued development.

The Section Editors will become part of a team including representatives from the Intensive Care Society, FICM,, devolved nations, trainee committees and patient committee.  

Section Editors will:

  • Take responsibility for one section of GPICS.
  • Work with the Editorial Board to agree the scope and structure of the whole GPICS document.
  • Recruit Chapter Authors and work closely with them to draft, revise and finalise each chapter.
  • Be supported by the FICM administrative team and the Lead Editors, who are responsible for the overall project management.

The Diversity and Inclusivity Lead will:

  • Advise the Editorial Board on all diversity and inclusivity matters related to GPICS.
  • Work with the Editorial Board to agree the scope and structure of the whole GPICS document.
  • Work with Section Editors to ensure diversity and representation among Chapter Authors

We invite interest from all Intensive Care professional groups. Applicants should have experience of working with multi-professional committees or working groups. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written skills are required, along with an ability to communicate complex issues to differing audiences. Applicants will ideally have an understanding of guideline development processes, working in committees and critical appraisal methods.
