The game is set in 2030 futuristic London. In the game, the player controls a hacker group called DedSec. During a time of London underneath a surveillance state, the player and DedSec try to free the citizens of London from the rule of a private military company called Albion. The city is under their watch after a terrorist bombing and DedSec try to clear their names after they were blamed for it.[6]
It is the sequel to Watch Dogs 2 which was released in 2016. On July 6, 2021, an expansion called Bloodline was released. Aiden Pearce from Watch Dogs and Wrench from Watch Dogs 2 were playable in it.[7] On August 24, 2021, a crossover with Assassin's Creed was released.[8] There was a multiplayer mission and heist outfits that were added during a crossover with the Spanish television series Money Heist and it was released on August 30.[9]
Reception
[change | change source]The game recieved mixed and positive reviews by game critics. Critics said that they liked the story, gameplay, addition of the permadeath feature and the open world environment. However, critics didn't like that some missions and objectives felt repetitive. They also felt that, while the story was enjoyable, the game didn't do enough to make it feel important or urgent enough.[10][11][12][13]
