Requirements

You need to enable the following features in your campaigns to participate in optimization experiments.

  • Automatically Created Assets (ACA): Treatment arm traffic will see ads generated with Automatically Created Assets and Final URL Expansion turned on; control arm traffic will see ads generated with the campaign's original settings.
  • Budget: If your Performance Max campaigns are budget-constrained, we recommend increasing your budget to ensure experiment success.

How it works

  • Control: A Performance Max campaign with current ACA and Final URL settings.

  • Treatment: The same Performance Max campaign with ACA and Final URL settings enabled.
Note:
  • Instead of creating a new campaign for the treatment arm, some fraction of the traffic within the existing Performance Max campaign will be diverted to control and treatment campaigns.
  • When using page feeds with Final URL expansion on, the page feed helps to verify that we’re indexing the provided URLs, but it doesn’t restrict ads to serve only URLs from the provided feed. Learn more here.
