On Sunday 8 October 2023, Luxembourgish voters will head to the polls to elect new national representatives.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of State announced that the next legislative elections will take place on 8 October 2023, in accordance with Article 134 of the electoral law.

As always, voters will receive a convocation from their municipality.
Luxembourgish citizens will be called to elect the 60 deputies who make up the Chamber of Deputies for the next five years.

23 deputies will be elected in the South constituency, 21 in the Centre, 9 in the North and 7 in the East.

The day after the elections, the current government coalition of the DP-LSAP-déi gréng parties will resign and, depending on the results, a new government will be formed.

The current Bettel-Lenert government was officially sworn in on December 5, 2018 following the legislative elections of October 14, 2018.

2023 will be a double election year: the municipal elections are set for June 11, 2023, 6 months earlier, as per the protocol (when municipal/local elections fall on the same year as national elections, the former move up 6 months).

We recently learnt that up to 68,000 more eligible voters, will be able to register to vote in the municipal elections in June.
