Amsterdam
If there was anywhere in the world that could be summed up by colourful canals lined with Golden Aged homes, titling gabled buildings, streets full of bicycles, and endless fields of tulips, it's Amsterdam. This 700-year-old city promises a sparkling nightlife, medieval history in spades and a healthy lashing of breweries, cafes, museums and art galleries.
Cruise lines like Regent Seven Seas invite you to experience the city's charm by boat, offering a luxurious river cruise from the picturesque city of IJmuiden to the cultural centre of Europe. For those who love a blend of art, history, and a dash of European chic, the experts say Amsterdam should be next on the hit list.
Japan
From the dazzling skyline of Tokyo to the serene temples of Kyoto; Japan is a land of contrasts where ancient tradition meets ultra-modern innovation. A cruise to Japan offers a fascinating journey through time - one minute you'll be sipping matcha in a centuries-old tea house, and the next, dining in a futuristic robot restaurant. Aussies are particularly enamoured by voyages that explore both the bustling metropolis and Japan's quieter corners.

Antarctica
For those with a sense of adventure, they say nothing compares to the awe-inspiring beauty of Antarctica. The good news is, the 'Last Frontier' is no longer the domain of intrepid explorers as plenty of luxury expedition cruises are now offering experiences to Antarctica's untamed wilderness - in ultimate comfort.
A trip to Antarctica could go from gliding past towering icebergs, to watching colonies of 10,000 king penguins waddle across the snow, and marvelling at the sight of wandering albatrosses soaring overhead. Scenic Eclipse is one of the leading cruise lines providing an unforgettable journey to this untouched paradise. Experts say this is where travellers can experience collapsed volcanoes, remote ice fields, and some of the most spectacular wildlife sightings on the planet.
New Zealand
For more of a jaw-dropping scenery and outdoor adventure, New Zealand should top your cruising list. Known for its dramatic fjords, misty mountains, and pristine beaches, over the ditch offers a journey through some of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth. Cruising here allows you to explore the famed Milford Sound, spot wildlife like dolphins and penguins, and discover hidden coves along the rugged coastline.
The country's cultural richness is equally captivating, with opportunities to experience traditional Maori customs and world-class wineries in regions like Marlborough. Onboard a luxury vessel, you can enjoy all this beauty from the comfort of your private suite, waking up to a new postcard-perfect view each day.
Portugal
For those with a love of sun-drenched landscapes and rich history, Portugal's Douro River has become an increasingly popular cruise destination. Sail your way through picturesque rivers lined with terraced vineyards, where some of the world's best port wine is produced.
Next, stop off in charming towns like Porto, famous for its baroque architecture and riverside cafes. Portugal's blend of old-world charm and vibrant modern culture is best experienced on a leisurely river cruise, where you can enjoy gourmet food, local wines, and explore heritage sites along the way. It's also the spot with a wide selection of brand-new luxury hotels and curated onshore excursions.
Greece
Despite Greece recently announcing a €20 fee ($33) for each cruise passenger disembarking in Santorini and Mykonos during the peak summer season, there's a reason the nation continues to be one of the world's top cruising destinations, according to the experts.
From the whitewashed buildings of Santorini to the ancient ruins of Athens, Greece's iconic landscapes and rich history make it the ultimate destination for culture-seekers and sun-worshippers alike. Taking a luxury cruise through the Greek Isles with stops in Mykonos, Crete, and Rhodes, where you'll dine on fresh seafood, explore ancient temples, and soak in the vibrant culture is a trip like no other.
