Vineeth Sreenivasan (born 1 October 1984)[1] is an Indian playback singer, actor, film director, screenwriter, producer, lyricist, creative director and dubbing artist. He predominantly works in the Malayalam cinema. He is the elder son of actor and screenwriter Sreenivasan.[2]
Early life
[edit]Vineeth Sreenivasan is the eldest son of Malayalam screenwriter and actor Sreenivasan and Vimala.[2] His younger brother, Dhyan Sreenivasan is also an actor.[3] He completed his primary education from Rani Jai Higher Secondary School.[4] He graduated in mechanical engineering from KCG College of Technology, Chennai.[5]
Career
[edit]He made his acting debut playing one of the main protagonists in the Malayalam film Cycle, which did well at the box office.[6] He did his second movie role with his father in the movie Makante Achan.[citation needed]
He writes the lyrics of most of his album songs and has also directed his own music videos.[citation needed]
Vineeth won the AMMA Best Male Singer Award 2008 for his songs "Mampullikkavil" and "Jillu Jillu" and also the Best Male new face of the year 2008 by Asianet, for his role in Cycle.[citation needed] Vineeth wrote the script and Lyrics and debuted as director for the movie Malarvadi Arts Club, with seven new young actors. He won the Asiavision award for the best debutant director for Malarvadi Arts Club. Thattathin Marayathu was the second movie in which he was the screenwriter, director and playback singer. His third movie Thira was released in 2013, in which he introduced his younger brother Dhyan Sreenivasan.[citation needed] He then worked as a screenwriter on Oru Vadakkan Selfie, which had a good run at the box office. His fourth film as director and screenwriter was the family drama, Jacobinte Swargrajyam. The screenplay, also written by Vineeth, was based on a real life incident of a NRI Malayali businessman Jacob Zachariah. The film succeeded both critically and commercially.
Hridayam, his next film, was released in theatres worldwide on 21 January 2022. It garnered critical acclaim for its direction, story, screenplay, music, score, and standout performances by the cast. The film also achieved significant commercial success, securing its position as the 3rd highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year.[7] His latest movie, Varshangalkku Shesham, was released on April 11, 2024 worldwide.[8]
