Julius Spear Turrill (1876–1943) was an American soldier who served in World War One.

Biography

He was born on 17 June 1876, in Shelburne, Chittenden, Vermont, United States. His father, Clayton Royal Turrill, was 27 and his mother, Alice E. Spear, was 23 when he was born.[1][2]

He got married to Mary Louise English on 3 July 1913, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States.[3][4]

He lived in Kittery, York, Maine, United States until 1910 and Washington D.C., United States until 1930.[5][6]

He died on 19 September 1943, in Shelburne, Chittenden, Vermont, United States, at the age of 67, and was buried in Shoreham, Addison, Vermont, United States.[7][8]

Career

In his youth, he worked as a horseman and a farmer.[9]

Military Career

He got commissioned as a first lieutenant in the United States Army.[10]

He participated in the Battle of Belleau Wood in 1918.[11][12]

Awards and Honours

He received the Navy Cross for his service during the World War One.[13][14]

He also received the Distinguished Service Cross in 1919.[15][16]
