Vivek Venugopal, also known by his music project Visita, is an Indian composer, guitarist, and producer.[1][2]
Biography
Venugopal started his music career in 2014 as a self-taught guitarist under the project named Visita.[3][4] Later, he became interested in Jazz and international ethnic music.[4]
In 2015, Venugopal released his debut album Musings.[5][6][7] It consisted of compositions for solo acoustic guitar that he performed.[6] He followed this up with Syncretism, Vol. 1 in 2016, which was inspired by West African, Celtic, and Hindustani music.[8][9]
In 2018, he released his second solo guitar album, The Ascent of Mt. Purpose.[5][10][8]
In 2019, he worked with pianists Mitali Saraf and Shantanu Patel on a set of solo piano pieces, titled Chroniles: Consolation.[5][11] A year later, he released the second part of this concept album series, titled Chronicles: Resolution.[12][13]
In 2020, he worked with singer and conductor Salome, cellist Tatiana Kritskaya, pianist Jay Parte, singer Anusha Ramasubramoney, to release An Ode to the Morphing Muse, Op. 6.[12]
In March 2021, Venugopal's album, Reveries, Op. 7, was released.[14][15]
In 2022, he released Moods for Violin & Piano, Op. 15.[16][1]
In February 2023, Venugopal released another album, String Quartets, Opp. 10, 12, that was recorded in Russia with violinists, Anastasia Kuskasheva and Anna Ansolis; the viola artist, Alexandra Marutaeva; and the cellist, Maria Ryzhkova.[2] The album includes two pieces, titled "A Prayer for Mother Nature, Op. 10" and "Conflicted Resolution, Op. 12."[2]
Venugopal is also known for introducing a musical instrument called Visitar along with Erisa Neogy.[14]
