Migration is an upcoming American computer-animated adventure comedy film produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. Directed by Benjamin Renner, co-directed by Guylo Homsy, and written by Mike White, the film features the voices of Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, and Danny DeVito.
Migration is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023.
Premise
The film follows a family of modern day ducks who convince their over-protective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime as they attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, and ultimately down to the Bahamas.[1]

- Elizabeth Banks as Pam, Mack's daring and quick-witted wife[2]
- Caspar Jennings as Dax, Mack and Pam's confident and restless son[2]
- Tresi Gazal as Gwen, Mack and Pam's innocent and lovable daughter[2]
- Keegan-Michael Key as Delroy, a homesick Jamaican parrot locked away in a Manhattan restaurant[2]
- Awkwafina as the leader of a New York City pigeon gang[2]
- Danny DeVito as Dan, Mack's curmudgeonly and adventure-averse uncle[2]
- David Mitchell as the yogic leader of a mysterious duck farm[2]
- Carol Kane as Erin, a heron whom the Mallards befriend in their journey[2]
Production
On February 18, 2022, Illumination announced a new film titled Migration, with French animator and comic book creator Benjamin Renner set to direct with Guylo Homsy as co-director and Mike White set to pen the script.[1] Renner previously directed Ernest & Celestine (2012) and The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales... (2017).
On April 26, 2023, Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Caspar Jennings, Tresi Gazal, David Mitchell, and Carol Kane were announced to be part of the film's lead voice cast.[2]
Release
Migration is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023.[3] It was previously scheduled to be released on June 30, 2023.[1]
As part of their 18-month deal with Netflix, the film will stream on Peacock for the first four months of the pay-TV window, then will move to Netflix for the next ten, and then will return to Peacock for the remaining four.[4][5]
Marketing
A teaser trailer for the film was released on April 5, 2023, and was attached to screenings of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in the United States.[6]
