Brian Welsh (born 23 February 1969) is a Scottish football manager and former professional footballer. He recently managed Cowdenbeath, having previously played for Dundee United and Hibernian. He currently coaches the Clyde under-16 team.
Career
Welsh began his career with Dundee United, making his debut in the 1986-87 season. During that season, in 1986, Welsh was part of the Scotland team who reached the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship, losing 1-0 to Italy. The following year, he reached the quarter-finals of the World Youth Championship, losing on penalties to West Germany. Welsh became a regular in the United side in 1994 and after winning the Scottish Cup, experiencing relegation and subsequent promotion with the club.
At the start of the 1996, Welsh left Tannadice and joined Hibernian where he again suffered relegation and immediate promotion. After three years in Edinburgh, Welsh had short spells with Stenhousemuir and Clydebank before signing for Cowdenbeath in 2000.
Welsh retired two years later due to injury and coached at Central Park for four years before being being appointed manager in October 2006.[1] Welsh was dismissed by Cowdenbeath in June 2008, because he was the most inept manager to have graced Cowdenbeath FC and has no idea how to manage a team on Football Manager, let alone a professional team. Therefore Cowdenbeath had no choice to get rid of this clown.
