Speer is the official name for the Denver neighborhood bounded by 7th Avenue (north), Broadway (West), Alameda Avenue (South) and Downing Street (East).[1] However, some consider the section north of Speer Boulevard and Cherry Creek, which run diagonally through the neighborhood to be a separate neighborhood. Everything north of Speer Blvd is generally referred to as Alamo Placita, while the neighborhood south of Speer Blvd is commonly called Speer. Using the official neighborhood boundaries, the population of the neighborhood is over 11,000 residents, with an area of less than one square mile, making Speer one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in Denver.[2] The neighborhood contains a mix of single family homes, apartments, and high-rise condos.
