It first began broadcasting in 1998 with an adult contemporary format as Lite 96.7.[1] The station is currently owned by Golden West Broadcasting. By 2006, the station changed formats to hot adult contemporary (in a more American-style playlist) under the branding Mix 96 and the adult contemporary format is now exclusively heard on rival CKY-FM. The adult top 40 format is more classic hits-leaning, like Edmonton's CKNO-FM.
