three feats

"winner of Formula One and Champ Car championships and the Indianapolis 500, the only driver to accomplish all three feats."

This is not true. Emerson Fittipaldi has also won all three.--Gorak 00:54, 14 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

150th race start

Jacques Villeneuve is to make is his 150th race start in the 2005 Japan race if he takes the race start, but now according to wikipedia Villeneuve did start the 2005 USA race so that makes Villeneuve has already started his 150th race in the last grand prix at the Brazilian Grand Prix which is incorrect. As Villeneuve did not take part in the race start for the 2005 USA race. [[User:Andreasu|Andreasu 04 October 2005, 13:40.

Negativity?

Is it just me, or is there a quite negative tone to a lot of this article, particularly concerning his post-BAR career?

His Sauber debut at the Australian Grand Prix was remarkable only for his (weather assisted) P4 starting position. For the opening three races he was the slowest driver on Michelin tyres and rumours began to spread that he would soon be replaced.

In terms of speed, the two team-mates were fairly evenly matched by the end of the year, but it is Massa who dons the red overalls of Ferrari in 2006, not Villeneuve.

BMW opted to honour Villeneuve's contract; the cost of ditching him perhaps being too high.

Villeneuve will need to perform well to have a future in F1 beyond 2006

It just seems as if a lot of the tone of the article doesn't come anywhere near WP's NPOV policy, and appears to have been written by somebody not particularly keen on JV... I mean, I'm not his biggest fan, but it still reads as a little harsh in places. Seb Patrick 14:36, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

National Order of Quebec

The text, under the "Personal" section, claims that "in 1998, [Villeneuve] was made an Officer of the National Order of Quebec". Yet, if you go look at the article of the NOQ, he isn't listed - either this article, either Jacques's, is mistaken. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.130.104.220 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

The National Order of Quebec article just lists some of its notable members. A search of the NOQ website found Villeneuve's page here. Feel free to add his name to the NOQ article. Majin Izlude talk 03:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added him to the list of Officers on NOQ's Wikipedia page on 28 Oct 07. -- Dommar (talk) 21:26, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

I've added this section even thought sales of his album are very weak.--JForget 16:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question, is there any reason why in the line "Villeneuve appeared briefly in the 2001 Sylvester Stallone action movie Driven as a race car driver.", "Sylvester Stallone" and "action movie" are wikilinked but the actual film title isn't? It would make more sense to me for Stallone and driven to be Wikilinked. AlexJ 11:07, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - I've wikilinked the film and moved the comment to the section about TV. It was previously in the middle of a paragraph about his girlfriends / wife, which seemed odd. Bretonbanquet 16:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2000 BAR Honda

personally there are some things i would change in 2000 BAR section;

Despite the lack of a competitive car in 1999, the Canadian remained loyal to Pollock's team as did Zonta. The Supertec engines of the previous season were replace by Honda engines and the new BAR–Honda package proved to be competitive. Villeneuve bought home the first points for BAR in Australia with 4th. Villeneuve would go on to have another six points finishes and almost secured a podium finish at the United States Grand Prix. Reliablilty was still a major problem for the team with retirements in Spain,Brazil,Uk whilst being well into the points, whilst a certain podium in Monza was lost due to a gearbox problem. Villeneuve was voted the quickest driver of 2000 by Autosport and the best starter by F1 magazine. The signs were promising for the Honda BAR relationship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lyonsajh (talkcontribs) 13:58, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

profile picture and records

I believe the profile picture should be change to either a BMW Sauber photo or 1997 one.

Also believe there should be a trivia or records section eg pole in first GP, number of poles in a row, number of poles etc

give people a better idea of where he fits into history

Pictures are limited to what we have available under suitable licensing. Trivia sections are discouraged on Wikipedia - which is an encyclopedia, after all (See WP:TRIVIA). Number of poles is in the F1 infobox, poles in a row is pretty trivial (he doesn't hold a record for it). Pole in first GP is mentioned in the text. 4u1e 11:26, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LeMans Series

He placed second in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the table documenting his performance indicates he won a race. I've updated this to indicate 0 wins. Also, there is no mention of his entry in the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans. Is this because he didn't complete the race? I'm new to Wikipedia so I wanted to see if this was due to some existing conventions. I will place an entry for it if I haven't heard otherwise in the next few days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Madmonky (talkcontribs) 00:58, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The table documents Villeneuve's performance in the 2008 Le Mans series (in which he won one race - the 2008 1000km of Spa), not his performance in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans race (noting that the Le Mans series doesn't actually include the 24 Hour race). Feel free to add extra rows documenting his performances in the two 24 Hour races. DH85868993 (talk) 13:33, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name Licensing in Games

Should something be made of the fact that early on in his f1 career, hardly any racing game with Jaques in it, even the official F1 games was allowed to display his name and photo due to him copyrighting them personally? i gather he relented sometime in the 2000s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.116.27 (talk) 12:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stefan GP

Surely it is possible to include Stefan GP as being reported to be in negotiations with JV?--Amedeofelix (talk) 14:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does speculation have any place in this article? At the moment Stefan don't even have permission to race. If Stefan secure a position on the grid, and if the announced the signing of Villeneuve to race for them then sure. But otherwise its soft news, speculation or gossip (or WP:CBALL). --Falcadore (talk) 15:31, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

V8 Supercars.

Why no mention of the fact that JV was amoungst the starters at last year's Armor All Gold Coast 600? Anyone want to add it? If not I might. --Eff One

Because it was a very minor race in comparison to Villeneuve's career. Are one-off guest-drives in any series particularly notable? Also can you please sign your talk page posts with a ~~~~? Thank you. --Falcadore (talk) 03:08, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Minor race or not, it was still a race in which Villeneuve competed, even though not particularly notable therefore should be included in the article. It's not like it's speculation or gossip. The fact that he was linked to Stefan GP is mentioned, even though he never drove for the team. --Eff One —Preceding undated comment added 00:43, 20 February 2011 (UTC).

Jacques Villeneuve is notable as a Formula One world champion. So his Formula One associations go to the heart of his notability. A one-off celebrity driver gig at a V8 Supercar race does not approach that. --Falcadore (talk) 12:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, but it still deserves a mention in the article. His very few starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup also don't approach his notability in F1, yet they are still mentioned, as they should be. --User:Eff One

NASCAR is considerably larger than V8 Supercar, considerable more well known globally, and considerably more well known to Villeneuve's core audience due to the geographical proximity of Canada and the USA. It was also his significant career move after Formula One. Villeneuve has also been racing NASCAR intermittently for three seasons now? He has done a grand total of one V8 Supercar race meeting. Not even remotely comparable in impact to his career. If he does another V8 meeting this year, then maybe, but otherwise it's borderline trivia. --Falcadore (talk) 00:57, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
