T-Lazy-7 Ranch, located in the Maroon Creek Valley in Aspen, Colorado, was established by Harold (Had) and Louise (Lou) Deane in 1938.[1]
History
Had and Lou Deane moved to Aspen in 1936 from Chicago, Illinois, and purchased land in the Maroon Creek Valley in 1938, the T-Lazy-7 Ranch.
The ranch raised cattle, horses and a family on their cabin rental and recreational ranch. The ranch hosted guests from all over the world, including royalty and Hollywood celebrities, to experience the activities of ranch life. Activities included horseback riding, fishing and hunting, and Lou turned entertaining guests into a business, making T-Lazy-7 Ranch a bonafide guest ranch. The T-Lazy-7 Guest Ranch grew to include sleigh ride dinner dances, summer cook-outs, horseback riding, fly fishing, pack trips, and children’s summer camps.[2]
T-Lazy-7 Ranch in the 21st Century
Over eighty years later, the T-Lazy-7 Ranch is a recreational and agricultural ranch, still hosting guests from all over the world. Activities on the ranch include snowmobile tours, weddings and events, horseback rides, fly fishing, and agriculture. Cabins are let to short and long-term renters.
