William Jonathan "Billy" Wingrove (born 17 December 1982) is a freestyle footballer and former semi-professional footballer.[1] He is best known as half of the duo F2Freestylers with Jeremy Lynch.
Biography
Wingrove comes from a footballing family, with his Alan briefly playing in the youth set-ups of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, and his cousin, Greg Lincoln, being part of the first team squad at Arsenal—though Lincoln never actually played for the club.[2]
Wingrove played youth football for Enfield Town, and then semi-professionally for Ware.[3][4] Eventually, Wingrove decided to pursue freestyle football as he was making more money for an hour's worth of tricks, than he would have had he kept on with semi-professional football (although he would occasionally play for other clubs, including Hoddesdon Town).[5]
In 2005, Wingrove became the first freestyler to be signed up as a professional "Football Freestyler" by Tottenham Hotspur.[6]
F2Freestylers
After performing together at an event, Wingrove and Lynch formed a double act known as the F2Freestylers.[7][8] They have given performances at various venues including Manchester United's Old Trafford, Chelsea's Stamford Bridge and Norwich City's Carrow Road.[9][10] In 2016, the F2Freestylers debuted their series It's Called Football on NBCSN.[11]
