New parameter

[edit]

Hello,

For the Eastern Catholic bishops(or Eparchs as they are called), they lead Eparchies and not Dioceses even though they serve the same function. Can somebody add a parameter to the template which states that, eg. "| eparchy = ". Thank You....

URL details beneath the personal section

[edit]

Friends, need some direction, please. The Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, any many evangelical church leaders have personal websites.

I'm trying to include one for the Superintendent of Wesley Mission in Sydney, Stu Cameron. Having used the Christian leader infobox for the job, I'm afraid I'm having difficulty adding it in. (Feel free to edit if you can see what I have inadvertently messed up.)

Is it a case of having that field included here in the template? I imagine at the bottom of the infobox. Archer1234 or any other experienced editor here, would be very grateful for guidance here. MatthewDalhousie (talk) 06:16, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MatthewDalhousie, while not very elegant this code added to the infobox might work for your purpose:
| module = {{infobox person|embed=yes|website={{URL|https://stucameron.wesleymission.org.au/}}}}
Stu Cameron
Websitestucameron.wesleymission.org.au
which will appear something like the first example to the right:
If you want to display a label different than the link itself, do not use {{URL}}, but rather brackets like this:
| module = {{infobox person|embed=yes|website=[https://stucameron.wesleymission.org.au/ Ste Cameron website]}}
Stu Cameron
WebsiteSte Cameron website

which appears like the second example to the right:

@Archer1234 that's terrific, shall give it a go now. Thanks for the response and the help.

Success! The URL itself isn't pretty, but the information is there on the article, all neat enough, and all in the right places. Thank you again @Archer1234 MatthewDalhousie (talk) 01:39, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Moving parameter

[edit]

Please could |previous_post= be moved up the infobox to sit directly below |other_post=? Its clearly being used on many articles as part of the religious career summary and so should be in the top bit of the the infobox. Its original intended purpose was an alternative to |profession= with important pre-religious posts; this is reflected in its current position under the personal life section of the infobox.  Done * Pppery * it has begun... 21:30, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the move. A new problem: |consecration= and |consecrated_by= have ended up at the bottom of the infobox. Could you have a go at fixing this please, User:Pppery? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 23:43, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed that. I made a typo which I didn't catch in testing because I was looking primarily at the parameter I was moving. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:06, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality to Citizenship

[edit]

Per WP:INFONAT, could someone with the necessary skills change the field from nationality to citizenship? Citizenship doesn’t appear to be supported. It would probably be good if either was possible, as there might be situations where both might be needed. Thanks, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 13:50, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch, I'm unfortunenatly not your guy. But I would like to suggest that what should be done is to add a | citizenship parameter, rather than changing the | nationality field. A simple change would result in old data presented with a new label, which may or may not be a mismatch or false.
I support to keep both | citizenship and | nationality fields. Nationality can be problematic for contemporary religious leaders, but our template is used also for historical figures, where Nationality is often more appropriate than Citizenship.A ntv (talk) 18:47, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how to proceed, but it seems WP:INFONAT suggests the removal of the | nationality parameter entirely. I would argue that addition + deletion is a better solution than changing, but I'm not sure that it is the best solution. OJH (talk) 14:31, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
