Highways

Sultan Qaboos Street

total: 32,800 km
paved: 9,840 km (including 550 km of expressways)
unpaved: 22,960 km (1996 est.)

Oman has one expressway grade highway running along thr Batimah Coast of the Gulf of Oman. The speed limit is generally 120km/h but it is littered with roundabouts. In the Muscat area, the highway is known as Sultan Qaboos Street, and is the trunk road leading into the city.

Other roads are two lane highways in very good condition. There is ample desert scenery. The road between Diba and Al Khasab is gravel, despite what some maps may say.
