Nonnie Maria Berard (born December 20, 1990), professionally known as Nonnie, is an American Pop/rock singer-songwriter, actress, model, and former Beauty Queen from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, who rose to prominence in the mid 1990s as a childhood commercial actress and reemerged in 2008 as a musical artist. She is also regarded as a Louisiana idol by Louisiana residents.
Early life and career
Nonnie is of Italian, German, Cherokee, and French descent. She began her involvement in the performing arts at the age of six, at which time she enrolled in Irene's School of Performing Arts. At the same time, she joined her cities local children choir. During her early years, she competed in numerous competitions within Louisiana, such as the Louisiana statewide talent search(which she placed second in). She also appeared in many television commercials and made guest appears on children shows.
After failing to land roles in any feature films, it was decided by Nonnie's parents to pull her out of the spotlight.
Career
2004–2008: Beauty Pageant Scene & Discovery
After taking a 5 year break from the spotlight Nonnie jumped into the beauty pageant scene. She competed in over 300 pageants in a span of 4 years, most notably in the Miss Teen Louisiana Pageant, which she came out 5th in. In 2008 during a Beauty Queen convention in which Nonnie performed, she was discovered by former Atlantic Records scout Tim White. Soon after she was signed to Atlantic Records and started out working as a back-up singer for some of there popular artist. Months after signing development began for Nonnie's debut album, but due to creative differences and the label not being able to figure out how to promote Nonnie, she was dropped from the label later that year.
2010-present: Comeback
After working Independently under her manager and a New Orleans talent agency, she signed a multi album recording contract with Universal Republic. She has already began working on her debut album "Chance" and has been working with renown producers and songwriters including the likes of Dr. Luke, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, Kara DioGuardi, Chantal Kreviazuk, Claude Kelly, Jason Reeves, and label-mate Colbie Caillat. The first Single from the album is set to be released in August.
In July of 2010 it was revealed that Nonnie will be setting out on the "Not Yet Forgotten Tour" a 9 city concert tour around the US to promote the album from August though September.
Recently in interviews Nonnie has revealed that she will be branching out from her singing career and relaunching her acting career and will be starring in an upcoming feature film that is set to begin filming in 2011. She also stated her interested in be coming associated with The Walt Disney Company in the near future.
Personal life
Nonnie is a Christan and wears a purity ring, which she states to be her promise to God and herself. She also suffers from a mild heart condition that causes Tachycardia. During 2009 she filed a lawsuit against A.V.A Talent for 100,000. She eventually won the case in 2010.

Lawsuit and Comeback Nonnie's fans awaiting her arrival. Soon after getting into a disagreement with her agency in early 2010, Nonnie sued the agency for a reported 100,000 dollars and the release from her contract, which would allow her to release songs out of state. On May 20, Nonnie was released from her contract and awarded 50,000. Soon after, Nonnie signed with Victor's International Model & Talent Management. She stepped right back into her career and landed her big screen breakout role in the 2012 film 'Cruella's Revenge'. Most recently, she has made her international breakthrough, by signing a recording contract with Universal Republic, and Universal Music Group. Her signing sparked immediate attention from her Louisiana fans, thousands of fans flocked to the streets to support her and advertise her signing. It reached such a point, that after getting back to Louisiana for the first time after her signing, Nonnie was greeted by thousands of fans awaiting her outside the airport doors.
She held a contest via the internet for fans to choose a song that she should cover on her first EP. The American idol winner Jordin Spark's song This is My Now was chosen. Back to her career, Nonnie has stated that her first EP will contain remastered versions of some of her previous songs that were only released in Louisiana, and that she has began working on her debut album, which is set for a late 2010 release. A line of meet and greets have also been scheduled by Nonnie and her label throughout the US. Louisiana Government office have stated that they will support Nonnie by sponsoring a live performance at Blackham Coliseum, which will allow her fans to enter for free. She will be performing "This is My Now" at the performance.
She was also ranked 2nd in Louisiana Life 50 most beautiful people of Louisiana.
