Kevin Großkreutz (born 19 July 1988 in Dortmund) is a German footballer who plays for Borussia Dortmund. He is the cousin of Marcel Großkreutz who plays for Borussia Dortmund II.
Career
Großkreutz began his career with VfL Kemminghausen and Dortmund club FC Merkur 07. In 2002 he joined Borussia Dortmund, where played until he moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen. Promoted to first team in 2006, he led the club to promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2008. He scored 12 goals and was named to the Kicker-Magazin XI of the year.[1]
In July 2009 he moved to Borussia Dortmund.[2] Großkreutz was a member of the Germany U19 squad and is currently part of the Germany U20 squad and has signed a contract until July 2012.[3] Großkreutz made his full international debut in a friendly match against Malta in May 2010, he made his second appearance when he started against Sweden in November 2010.
Recently, Grosskreutz signed a 4-year contract extension till 2014 with Borussia Dortmund.
Personal life
Großkreutz has been a lifelong Borussia Dortmund supporter. He grew up and still lives in Dortmund.
