Hi SwisterTwister, I received the reason for rejection, ok how do I make it better. I feel this person should be part of Wikipedia, so how can I get it approved. I am not an expert in Wikipedia terms, requirements so I'm asking your assistance to get it published. Thanks, ronon44

I'm sorry to see you comment, but respect your opinion. You seemed a little upset based on the word choice, I hope you are feeling well. Anyway I was hoping you could help improve my article with some critique- Firstly, I believe any company that acquires 65% of one of the major telecommunication companies is worth note, not to mention the countless controversies. But, hey, I'll keep digging and asking if it'll help. Secondly, and more importantly, I would appreciate clarity on your belief that my article is a "PR" material. All these are objective facts, I attempted to be as unbiased as possible, hence the controversy section. I am not a representative of Credico, but only attempt to give the public the proper information on a company which has had a profound impact, negative and positive, on many people's lives. As a final note, on a personal note, I can not help but feel your close attention to my article and critique reflects some kind of bias on you part. Once again the previous statement was simply a personal opinion. I hope for all the best, Ill keep working on it!

Hello Twistedsister You seem to have taken a negative view of the ATMIA page. It is NOT solely based on PR notes. Two other editors also had look and I did diversify away from atmmarketplace and finextra. So I think you are being overly jelous in marking the page for deletion.19:09, 24 December 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by CIM2014 (talkcontribs)

    ST, I'm a bit curious about this. Shouldn't this have been closed as a "no-consensus" rather than a clear keep? --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:31, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The basis overall was to keep though, it would have been NC had there been equal amounts of delete. SwisterTwister talk 15:21, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a bit curious about this ST. I'm not sure about the equal "keep" and "delete" reasoning. A redirection is essentially a kind of deletion - it is proposed more as an alternative to deletion. A similar one Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hokkien and Hoklo Americans was closed as NC. If you don't mind, could you reclose this as NC? --Lemongirl942 (talk) 12:54, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, just wanted to say thanks first and foremost for your review and for your feedback. I've taken it on board and significantly expanded the third-party criticism and sources section, adding just what was requested to the point that it is now the longest section in the article. Hopefully that should satisfy the reviewer. If it's possible to proceed with the re-review, I'd be grateful. Thank you!

Hi! Looking for help on why this page keeps getting rejected. The page I created for indie director and writer Logan Sandler's first feature film, Live Cargo, was accepted. All the sources I use in Logan Sandler's page are independent from the artist himself. What is lacking in notability? Thanks!

I am requesting a review as the source material is unavailable online from an independent source. The only existing material is a scan from a newspaper article taken from the subject's own website. I have outlined where the original article was first published but all attempts to verify it from an independent source have met dead ends. Please advise on the exact steps needed to get this article approved. I appreciate your help with this matter. I look forward to your response. 92.238.62.98 (talk) 20:21, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

92.238.62.98, perhaps I can help out here. The simplest way to put it is that, based on the available sources, he is just not yet notable. Hi SwisterTwister! I did as you suggested and kept digging for more notable references for Aaron Chang, and I found out that he is indeed featured in a permanent exhibit in a museum! The bathing suit from his clothing line, Aaron Chang Clothing, that he gave as a gift to Bethany Hamilton, famous surfer and shark attack survivor, is featured in the exhibit titled Courageous Inspiration: Bethany Hamilton at the California Surf Museum. So this totals 3 exhibits, 1 permanent, and 1 art critic review of one of his galleries, along with multiple other references including his entry in the Encyclopedia of Surfing. I also found the article on Forbes about him, but I don't think it has relevant info to add to the Wikipedia page specifically, so I just included it as an addition. Could you take a look at the draft and see if you consider him notable now that I've added the new info?

    Hi SwisterTwister,

I understand Wikipedia's notability guidelines but wanted to present the below argument on why our references should be considered significant, given that a competitor of ours, GolfNow, has been granted a Wikipedia page.

Within the golf industry, the biggest golf publication has under one million unique visitors a month. We've been covered and interviewed by major publications such as The Examiner (2.5 million unique visitors a month), USA Today affiliate, Argus Leader (120K+ unique visitors per month), Dujour Magazine (47K+ unique visitors a month), GolfNewsNet (55k+ unique visitors a month), ESPN Radio, CBS Radio, Golf Channel Sirius FM and Golf Channel (video). These are major hits within the golf industry, but they aren't going to be covered by the Huffington Post/Forbes, which I believe what Wikipedia is looking for. The Huffington Post also mostly covers the professional game and lacks golf technology coverage.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that a majority of the coverage that GolfNow received from major publications (Forbes/GolfWeek - no longer active/Business Insider) was about either their competition with a slight mention to GolfNow or acquisition by Comcast. They have no coverage other than that in major publications. Their Forbes piece was focused on EZLinks and had some mentions of GolfNow being a competitor.

Comcast Buying GolfNow.com: http://www.businessinsider.com/2008/3/comcast-buying-golfnow-com Booking Golf Tee Times Gradually Shifting To Online Marketplace (focused on EZLinks): http://www.forbes.com/sites/darrenheitner/2013/06/15/booking-golf-tee-times-gradually-shifting-to-online-marketplace/#cbbf061646e1

I'm hoping to discuss this further, and I would be happy to jump on the phone and explain this further. Let me know if you need any further info.

    Thanks Sbjumper21 (talk) 17:57, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    About Victor Anoul

I just edited a draft you accepted on August 30th, Victor Anoul, and I just wanted to give you some unsolicited bits of advice, if you don't mind. I'll try to make this as painless as possible.

    1. Always fill out the living= parameter of {{Wikiproject Biography}}. As a specific example, if the person isn't living, put in living=no. This reduces the workload on people like myself who go through Category:Biography articles without living parameter, and also helps us keep track of how many BLPs we have.
    2. Biographies have to have more information than non-biographical articles to not be considered stubs.
    3. If someone isn't alive, make sure categories like Category:Living people and Category:Date of birth missing (living people) aren't on the article.

    Thanks in advance,

    Question about short film drafts

Hey, as you're a draft guru, I wanted to shoot you a query. I have a draft under development at Draft:Cul-de-Sac (2016 film), which concerns a brand new short film by an Oscar-winning film crew and a cast featuring an A-lister. Though I personally don't believe it is suitable for mainspace inclusion yet, I wanted to hear your thoughts for when it would be suitable. I anticipate it will win a vast multitude of awards and may even be an Oscar contender, so please give me input! I hope you're doing well! :) DARTHBOTTO talkcont 21:57, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Partial AN/I close on ibans

Hi SwisterTwister, I have closed this section of the ongoing AN/I discussion with the following warning:

User:SwisterTwister is prohibited from trying to impose "interaction bans" or "keep-away orders" against other users, and from implying that such interaction bans exist unless a ban has been formally enacted through a community process. This does not apply to requests that users not post on SwisterTwister's user talk page (see WP:NOBAN). Violations of this will result in temporary but escalating blocks.

If you need any clarification or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me personally. While reading the comments there I got the impression that there were editors "in your corner" who want you to succeed, but who couldn't support you saying that bans exist when they don't. Best of luck in your editing, and I hope you have some less-stressful times ahead of you. ~Awilley (talk) 01:53, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Dear SwisterTwister,

    Thanks for reviewing my article.

I need your help to understand why my article does not match the notability criteria. I have given the reference link from below

    1. References of books where his name is mentioned. 2. Reference of news papers where he was in focus. 3. Reference of his all international concerts is also given. 4. Also note that achieving "Pandit" title itself is greatest achievement in Indian Music. 5. His name is also referred in other Wikipedia articles but I understand this does not match to your criteria. 6. Wikipedia also has database of flue players which are less notable than him in terms of achievement. but I understand I can not use this as a argument to publish the article as per Wikipedia guidelines.

Please let me know what exactly I have to do to proceed with my article. I found your comments are very useful and helpful in many other articles. So looking for your help in fixing errors in my article.

Looking forward for your reply and help.

    Hi there,

Thank you for reviewing my submission but I do not accept this. Jihan is first and foremost a proven notable artist, and designer. Her balloon designs have sparked many companies all over to copycat her. Her company Geronimo has now become a coined term for her particular balloon design as well. If you google Geronimo Balloons you will not only find her company but also a multitude of online stores selling "Geronimo balloons", not on behalf of Jihan's company but as the style of balloon. I am happy to add more references to support her and her companies notability but if that is not enough would you suggest I develop a page for the company with a section on the creator that is Jihan instead? I do not believe her talent is not acceptable under Wikipedia Standards.

Please provide more specificity as to why the article about Theresia Gouw was declined for lack of notability backed up by significant sources. Theresia Gouw is widely considered one of the leading venture capital investors in the technology industry. In an industry with few female investors at all, she is a standout regardless of her gender. The sources used in this article are highly reliable--New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, CNBC, Time, etc. There are other Wikipedia pages about similar people in the tech industry--Aileen Lee (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aileen_Lee), Diane Greene (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Greene). Hello David, I would first like to thank you for taking the time to review my article. With that being said, I'm finding it difficult to believe that the information provided does not sufficiently account for Credico's notability. It's, of course mentioned in the article, but in terms of its size and controversy, Credico is a 400 firm company, spanning 19 countries, with a current class action involving hundreds of opt ins, and an extreme level of notoriety in the UK. Aside from this I believe, I believe the article is rather unbiased and factual. As a point of reference, the Cobra Group, a direct marketing firm of almost identical construction, save its East Asian base of operations, achieved publication and its size and controversy were not really as notable from an objective point of view. Again thank you for your review, but I feel you are have a difficult time understanding the scope and influence of the company.

Hello David. Thank you for your review of my piece on Daniel Noah. I know you receive this question all the time, but I would appreciate some advice. Respectfully, you say Mr. Noah is not notable enough to receive his own Wikipedia entry, yet the movie (Max Rose) he created, wrote, and directed has its own page, and the company (SpectreVision) he co-founded has its own page as well. I am truly at a loss as to why Daniel is not deemed worthy enough as the projects he created. I would truly appreciate it if you could share the thought behind this, and if there is a way for me to revise that might make you reconsider. Review of ThreatModeler page

    ST,

Please note that the section entitled "Additional Outside References to ThreatModeler" does, in fact, contain a press release. It is mostly filled with outside/non-related mentions of ThreatModeler from verifiable secondary and tertiary sources. Overall there are 21 references used in the article, 15 of which are outside / verifiable / notable sources. I was in the process of making the links in the "Additional Outside References to ThreatModeler" live when I received notification that the article was declined. Since you didn't notice the press release about ThreatModeler or notice that the article was about Argawal's contribution to threat modeling, I am resubmitting in the hope that you will actually take time to review the article and its references. This is not, as you suggest, an advertisement. It is an article about moving the field of threat modeling forward. If you have specific, helpful comments I would be very happy to receive them; the general template comments I've received thus far simply do not seem to apply in a helpful way....

Yet I have included citations from Time Out, The BBC, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Spectator, and the Evening Standard - are these not "third-party news sources"? As for reviews, the word 'review' appears six times amongst the citations! So please, can you tell me clearly and specifically what more I need to do to get this article published?

    Thanks.

Hi SwisterTwister, I just wanted to reach out and get a bit of clarity on why the Draft was rejected based on notability. I added a lot of very credible references (Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Reuters, New York Times, etc.) throughout the Draft to help solidify Rafay's notability, also, added extra references at the bottom. Thanks!

So, just trying to understand the rejection, aka why this is not noteworthy/credible, while that of Marketo and other tech firms is...thanks for the help. Hi David,

I would need your serious support here cause I am unable to understand which links are referred as press releases. The article tone is also very neutral and shares only information about the developer. Can you help me understand which statement is referred as a advertisement.

Also, all the references shared are news articles released by respective publisher and is not a PR. Can you highlight which references are considered as PR.

Further, I was checking few other developer articles to understand what wrong I am doing and was suprised to see a similar article with less relevant references being approved. You can view the same here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acme_Group#

It would really grateful, if you can share exact changes required. PriyankaD (talk) 13:25, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, is there a reason you replaced the speedy deletion nomination on this page with a PROD? Brycehughes (talk) 00:24, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brycehughes There were claims of significance in the article enough to not quality for WP:A7. Also, because of its size, PROD was fitting to explain the exact concerns. SwisterTwister talk 00:27, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the deletion has already been contested twice, wouldn't it be better to go through WP:AFD instead? Happy to nom there if you agree. Brycehughes (talk) 00:28, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Simply a contesting is still not taking away eligibility if the speedy or PROD still applies; in this case, the speedy was still placed and not removed (until I had) so it was not formally contested by that author. Also, as for the PROD, AfD is the next option if the article is unsuccessfully deleted by PROD.
I think you're missing the spirit of the deletion process (obviously one of them would have deleted the template if I had PROD'd it and they understood that fact), but sure, no rush, I'll wait and see if they remove it. All the best, Brycehughes (talk) 00:42, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Re my Sharon Pincott draft

Hi, I just sent this below to Huon (asking him to forward to you), since I couldn't work out how to get to where I am right now. (Apologies)

Now that I'm (finally) here, I'll copy in my message that I left with him:

Hi Huon, I've been trying to send this update to SwisterTwister/WhirlingStorms, too, but I'm getting all confused. Could you possibly forward to him as well? Thank you.

It's well after midnight where I am, and just wanted to ask if you could look at all those various 'External Links' that I've added, when you have abit of free time, to see if we're more on the right track now in terms of the 'independent reviews' (etc) that you need.

Please note that I HAVEN'T yet edited the references (but I will).

Also, I wanted to let you know that I've found out something that might help you think differently about the documentary (All the President's Elephants) credit to Pincott too (as opposed to just the film crew). The International Film Festival was organised (in conjunction with the UN and CITES as I've already written) "to raise global awareness of the various challenges facing the African and Asia elephants" ... and the judging panel were very high-level conservation people (eg Minister of Environment from South Africa, USA Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment, etc) - and so their focus wasn't 'technical' in terms of the filming. It was very much 'conservation' orientated and which films would best help global awareness. So I plan to expand the documentary paragraph a little bit to reflect this new info, if you agree it would be worthwhile? So that people can better understand why being a finalist reflects so well on Pincott too.

Also, I've had advice from Pincott's publisher now too that they expect a 1,000+ word published article by a journalist to appear before Christmas, on Pincott/Elephant Dawn. So that sounds like what you're after too, so I will include that when they send me the link, which they've said they will do.

Any input to all of this, I'd appreciate again. (Please do forward to SwisterTwister/WhirlingStorms too. Thanks again.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arnie1000 (talkcontribs) 14:42, 16 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi Swister Twister,

You recently rejected the page Draft:Davitt_Jones_Bould for lack of notability and I would be interested in any advice you could give me as to how this could be remedied.

Is the issue more the depth of coverage or the sources themselves? The Lawyer and Legal Business, for example, are where you would generally go to read news about the UK legal industry, but would it be necessary to cite a national mainstream newspaper like the Guardian or Telegraph to establish notability?

Do you think that the reported connection with The 2012 Olympics and the Sukuk bond (subjects which are themselves notable) supports the notability of the organisation or would much more be needed?

My aim is not to advertise for Davitt Jones Bould but to create an informative factual article that would be of interest to readers concerned with the UK legal sector. There are a number of other articles about UK law firms and it is my opinion that Davitt Jones Bould is an important enough part of that subject area that readers would benefit from a Wikipedia entry.

I would really appreciate any feedback on how you think the article could be made to conform with Wikipedia's guidelines.

Getting closer to finalising Sharon Pincott; for your review again please

Hi again @SwisterTwister and @Huon, turns out we are now very pleased that you rejected the first draft of Sharon Pincott @SwisterTwister! After all of the input from you both and answers to questions, we think the text of the article is much stronger now overall, and certainly now we have more and better references/links too. Thank you both once again for all of the helpful advice and input.

The article is still not 100% complete, but I think it is getting very close now. I am waiting on another one (and maybe two) substantial published reviews of Elephant Dawn, that are still expected out of South Africa and Australia (hopefully before Xmas or soon after). And we are still looking to see if there are any more relevant links that we can find.

Please, could you have a read of the complete article again whenever you’re able (since it is worded quite differently now to the original submission that was declined) – plus with the extra links cleaned up and added (now separated between ‘Book reviews’ and ‘External Links’). And please let me know if you could, if you agree it’s nearing completion from the point of view of your own requirements, and soon ready for resubmission?

Any additional input you have, I’d be very grateful. Arnie1000 (talk) 09:14, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

AfD List of Surveillance Companies explanation

Hello again, I left a message here before which seems to not be here anymore but I'd like to know why you deleted my list of surveillance companies and called it 'trivial'. These companies create technologies which governments use to spy on people and benefit from not having information about what they do online. To call such a list 'trivial' and have it deleted without proper discussion is something I find hard to understand and it's very offputting when editors do this kind of thing without engaging properly. Please can you engage with me on this discussion and give me some indication as to why you've made this decision. --Jwslubbock (talk) 15:28, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sister Twister, Thank you for your feedback on the article submission. I have improved it by better explaining the origins and nature of the Harvard Business School case study on Cohen, which I believe in itself establishes her notability and in fact is what caught my eye. It was written independently by Harvard professors, vetted through the Harvard publishing system, and is available for purchase for business schools worldwide who use the material for students who study through the case method.

The article also cites multiple reliable sources independent of the subject, with a reputation for fact checking and approval by editors, including Forbes, CNN, and two segments on the television show The Today Show. It also cites two awards given to Cohen by independent organizations Next Avenue and Forty Over 40.

I hope these clarifications are sufficient. I welcome your help with any other changes you recommend to make the article acceptable.

Second Rejection of Lorna Mary Swain entry

    Hello David/SwisterTwister,

I've been attempting to create the Lorna Mary Swain entry for a class assignment. You have hard rejected it twice with little explanation besides a cut and paste of notability guidelines. Needless to say, I'm doing something wrong that isn't working with your view of the guidelines. I'm going to need a bit of help deciphering what exactly is going on to hold up this entry.

The last update included additional sources, all of which are independent of the author who is deceased. It's evident that the woman is a noted scientist and women's education advocate.

Thus, despite what I know is your attempt to help, it remains entirely unclear what is needed in order to make this woman notable. The fact that she was one of the earliest female lecturers at Cambridge isn't enough. Her publication history doesn't fit the notability criteria, and the fact that she's cited in more than one reputable work for her work on fluid dynamics in mathematics and being a woman in the UK who lent her skills to the war effort in World War I studying vibration problems in aircraft propellers (a significant early problem during the first world war; the first in which aircraft were used for terrain mapping/intelligence, scouting, and later fighting and bombing.

Please advise as I am quite frustrated.

Hello, I am writing to ask for assistance on the page I am trying to create for Sam S. Jain. Mr. Jain is the founder of Fareportal, a $4.5 billion company which owns and operates consumer facing brands travel CheapOair and OneTravel.

Mr.Jain is a very successful entrepreneur and his accomplishments have been covered by notable publications such as Fortune, Skift, and TravelPulse. These references were recorded in the draft submission for this page.

Additionally we are seeking to create this page as there is someone that exists by the same name, Sam Jain, currently listed on Wikipedia that is not beneficial for our company. The other Sam Jain is also an internet entrepreneur but is a fugitive with pending arrest warrants. Given the similarities in name and occupation, I'm sure you can understand why we would like to have a page for Sam S. Jain to avoid any confusion.

Hello - I'm am so confused as to your reasons for denying this article from publication on wikipedia. I've been working with two other editors to get it into proper shape - and they both agreed that it was in fact notable. Then you come along and say otherwise - how can that be? We are all working on the same criteria - are we not?

A read through the discussion, you will see all of the material and references that deems the company as notable. Most significant is the fact that the company has over 9 patents that have made significant contributions to the advancement of wireless and wireline telephone networks.

I'd like to request that you reconsider your decision and actually use your editorial status to approve this article. Side note - don't mean to be argumentative - but I've no idea how you came up with the statement that a company must be older than 10 years to be notable - where is that published on wikipedia? Seems like this is just an opinion of yours - and not a policy.

Can you expand on your comments about the business side of things as being trivial.

23:29:03, 19 December 2016 review of submission by Zulutimepilot

Dear SwisterTwister, Thanks for reviewing my article. When I initially received and analyzed your comments rejecting the draft, my reaction to your main criticism of the article, namely, “Simply nothing satisfying the needed notability for a convincing article,” was that your sweeping criticism, based upon your own subjective standards, is itself unsupportable under Wikipedia standards, and wholly unconvincing.

With a wave of your wand (your pen) dismiss the significance of an endeavor that people of all races and nationalities around the world have, for nearly a century, found and continue to find of great interest, and which is considered a hallmark and touchstone of aviation achievement and national pride; namely, the solo around the world flight.

Julie Wang is the ninth woman in history to have successfully completed a solo circumnavigation of the earth in an aircraft and the first and only Chinese person to have done so. It is of historic significance to a wide range of people, not only 1.4 billion Chinese people for whom the name “Wang Zheng” will become associated with a national hero, but for those in the general aviation community and general population who understand what it takes to pilot a small aircraft solo around the earth in 18 days.

What you glibly dismiss as unnoteworthy, the general population considers heroic. On November 7, 2016, Wang Zheng, a Chinese citizen, received the Key to the City of West Palm Beach from the City Commission, in recognition of her accomplishment.

I put the matter down for a few weeks to get some distance and returned to it a few days ago. I am still unpersuaded that you have not substituted your own standards for Wikipedia’s.

In the first place, a solo circumnavigation of the Earth by a female aviator has only been accomplished by eight women in history, and never before by a Chinese or any other Asian. Contrary to your personal opinion, it is, in itself, a noteworthy accomplishment by any standard, including Wikipedia’s. How do we know that? Because of the number of Wikipedia articles about other female aviators who’s only “noteworthy” achievement is a solo circumnavigation around the Earth.

For example, look at Gaby Kennard’s Wikipedia article; she’s one of the eight. It consists of just five sentences and only one reference. It begins: “Gaby Kennard (born 1944, East Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) was the first Australian woman to circumnavigate the globe by airplane.” That’s her notability and it meets Wikipedia standards.

How about the U.K.’s Polly Vacher? Another of the eight. She is notable for completing a solo circumnavigation and for becoming the first solo woman flyer over the polar regions. Also only one reference, a primary source: Vacher’s own book. Jennifer Murray? Her Wikipedia entry is two sentences: it begins: “Jennifer Murray (born June 1940 in Providence, Rhode Island) circumnavigated the globe aboard a Robinson R44 helicopter the distance of 36,000 miles in 97 days in 2000, earning her the current Guinness World Record for the first helicopter circumnavigation by a woman. What about Amelia Rose Earhart, who circumnavigated the globe in 2014 but did not fly solo or set any record? She has a Wikipedia page too and a good one-third the article debunks her claimed relationship to her famous namesake, Amelia Mary Earhart, (there is no relationship) while another editor also debunks the younger Earhart’s erroneous claim to have been the youngest woman to fly around the world. This article too meets Wikipedia standards for notability.

The consistent existence of these Wikipedia articles, in which individuals are noteworthy on account of completion of the endeavor of flying around the world, mandates that Julie Wang’s solo record-setting circumnavigation for which she won a $150,000 prize awarded by AOPA China, and which has been recognized by leading U.S., China and international aviation authorities (AOPA, AOPA China, IAOPA, CAAC) cannot be excluded on supposed “lacking noteworthiness” grounds.

Wang Zheng, moreover, is an emerging aviation pioneer. Not only is she the first Chinese person to successfully complete a solo flight around the world but is also the first Chinese to earn an FAA flight instructor certificate, the first Chinese to earn each of the three FAA flight instructor certificates (CFI, CFII, MEI), and is the first Chinese to be FAA-approved and designated as the chief flight instructor of an FAA Part 141 training program.

As to your comment that sources must be “reliable,” it’s hard to understand what is lacking in this respect in the current draft given Wikipedia’s requirements. All of the sources cited in the article about Ms. Wang are independent secondary sources consisting of either articles written by journalists covering the story for major newspapers with reputation for fact-checking in keeping with accepted journalistic standards – and Wikipedia’s – e.g., Miami Sun-Sentinel, TCPalm Network (Gannett), USA TODAY (the original story from Gannet’s Oshkosh Northwestern while the reporter was covering EAA at Oshkosh last summer), the FAA, the Palm Beach Post, AOPA Cloud and AOPA itself. All these are secondary sources from major newspapers/outlets (and are just a sampling of dozens of articles and interviews that continue to be published in major U.S. and China media channels). What specifically about the “reliability” of these sources is in question?

I’ve added another half-dozen or so references to the existing independent sources such as AOPA and International AOPA, to document their recognition of Julie Wang’s accomplishment, and have resubmitted the article for review. I do not, however, see that there is any deficiency in the reliability or impartiality of the previously supplied information about the solo circumnavigation event or about Julie Wang herself.

I would agree – although you didn’t make this point – that the article could be polished a bit and tightened by the talented editors of the Wikipedia community, and hope we can quickly move to that point.Zulutimepilot (talk) 23:29, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I've seen your comment on my draft page and have downsized the plot accordingly. Is it acceptable now? I feel like deleting more would remove some important information of the book. Thank you --Girl next Dior (talk) 19:55, 20 December 2016 (GMT)

Listen, this band has released 4 albums to date, they have been around for years, I have backed up the submission for this article with over 30 reviews from music magazines the genuineness of which is fully verifiable if you bother actually visiting their sites. This band is getting reviewed in paper magazines as well, alongside with getting regular airplay in radio stations all across the globe. I don't see what more you want to accept this submission. Perhaps the reviewers at Wikipedia ought to start showing more common sense and less rigidity with submissions.Fasching web radio (talk) 20:29, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SwisterTwister, Thank you for reviewing the article Draft:Juice Beauty. I have edited the article so it no longer reads as an advertisement or PR listing. I used wikipedia articles (already approved) from similar beauty companies of Juice Beauty's size as a guide in knowing how to write Draft:Juice Beauty. I hope the revised draft is satisfactory to Wikipedia's standards and I do appreciate any other advice you can give the article.

I see the article as showing little to no positive bias - the sources cited are independent, and I reported on the company due to its significance as a new emerging disrupter. I do not work there, and was seeking to report on a company in my community, that seems to be doing interesting things in the space.

If a recognized news publication saw it fit to report on it, does that not lend credence to the significance of the company itself?

Let me know what can be fixed here as I do not see any issues in the article myself.

    KylePatton (talk) 23:19, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification! Just to confirm - I should just keep an eye on the company and if they get covered by a major publication e.g. Reuters, The Economist, Time, etc. then I should resubmit?

    KylePatton (talk) 23:25, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[1] "Why [would] the financial information about a [company] be inappropriate content?"

Would also debate the fact that The Toronto Star article does not contain significant information. If it is the case rather that you consider it to be a minor local publication, that seems like an arbitrary definition. What circulation must a publication get to be legitimate?

    Thanks. KylePatton (talk) 23:38, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Establishing notability

Thanks SwisterTwister for your comment the draft article for creation on Credible. [2] Unclear how "only" being around 4 years would be a notability issue. There are more than 40 million people with student loan debt. Refinancing is a fairly new thing. As CNN Money has reported, Credible estimates 8 million borrowers could qualify to refinance their student loan debt at lower rates. [3] Some "notable" companies in the business include CommonBond [4], SoFi [5], and Earnest [6]. The CNN Money article is one of numerous "significant in-depth third-party major news" sources cited in the article. 162.245.21.61 (talk) 01:30, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thank you for quickly reviewing my first ever draft.

Could you please help me with a few things as there are many topics and articles on Wikipedia and I feel like I've finally found something which nobody else has touched upon :) - I just have a few questions regarding your comment about the page hopefully I can improve the article for inclusion: "This is simply a local business listing and none of it establishes actual independent notability, regardless of anything or anyone else, because all this is for is a local company with local attention and activities."

Question 1 - This is simply a local business listing My research tells me that this company has a headquarters, just like many other companies listed on Wikipedia of a similar nature, but they are predominantly an online company which also serves European countries. I've found nothing to suggest that it is simply a local company. I've tried to convey this through the article, but I've obviously not done a very good job of this. How can I explain to the reader that the company has a headquarters and showroom but is a major online retailer?

Question 2 - none of it establishes actual independent notability I discovered the company in the Sunday Times newspaper when reading about the Fast Track 100 which I believe to be an independent, notable source. I couldn't link to this via The Sunday Times website as it is subscription only - How do I use the newspaper as a source as it was in there? While searching online I found that Fast Track, who run the awards, listed them as well and I used that source instead. I'm just unsure why this is independent notability?

Question 3 - because all this is for is a local company with local attention and activities I was under the impression that the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 is national recognition, is this a bad source or do I need the newspaper source for this? I also believe that sponsoring a major television channel's programs is a national activity and has national attention.

Question 4 I'm very new to writing articles for Wikipedia and I understand getting it right the first time is probably a miracle. I've re-read the article several times and I cannot see how it comes across as an advertisement. Could you please point me towards areas of the article which you feel advertise the company rather than inform the reader?

I will take a look at articles from some similar companies and see what they have done I'm sure this will give me some inspiration but I really appreciate your time and would love to hear your feedback.

    Many warm regards

    Hi there

    I hope you are well.

This is my draft - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:First_Avenue_Partners

    I'm a bit unclear about the guidelines as I cannot see any substantive difference between my page and other similar pages, eg;

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eaton_Partners

I was wondering if you could give me a little more information about why these pages are deemed ok but mine isn't as they seem to be using references that similar to mine and a very similar format. Thanks. That will enable me to make the changes required. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rob P. Keating (talkcontribs) 11:45, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    "Removed worst of it"

Have you got any more feedback on this edit to Kantar Health? Deleting whole sections of a page with a four word explanation isn't very useful to my understanding, or future contributors to the page. Gmseow (talk) 12:07, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gmseow That's because literally all of it was clear PR sourced by either their published or republished PR. SwisterTwister talk 18:13, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If that's what you think, then please take the time to say that. Comments like "Removed worst of it" just come across as snarky. I could see how the a Awards section might seem cynical (although it was not intended to be), but I don't understand how your criticism applies to the ISO Certification section you removed. It only references 2 third party sites, which are considered important enough to have their own Wikipedia page. Ultimately I'm not going to revert anything, I just want a bit more clarity. Hello, I wonder why do you mean by independent sources? The director doesn't have websites or anything under his name. As the article says, and it is well known in Hollywood, he is an autism person, and does not have any personal pages. By saying that statement you are not being just. All links are from very reliable sources, like IMDb or news papers from Argentina, Spain, France, even Variety Magazine from Los Angeles, which is the number one publication for the Entertainment Industry. There are more than 200 links. Have you read all of them to jump into this conclusion after just 10 minutes of posting the page? The bottom line is that I used the same parameters used in James Cameron's page. Michael Bay's page and Steven Spielberg's Page, using the same sources, which is always IMDb. If what I wrote is wrong, would you mind to help me by being more specific? If you think that a director that is ranked under 1000K in IMDb is not worth of an article, then 99% of the directors/producers in Wikipedia must be removed. I just wonder of you didn't like my visual approach in the article, trying to give more life to the page. And finally, maybe for you is not important, specially from the American audience point of view, but what Milos Twilight did for Argentine Tennis is the biggest thing ever done for the sport, and has been congratulated by the Argentine President Macri. The funny part is that all Milos's partners have their pages published, even his actors have pages, but you qualify him as not important enough to be in Wikipedia, while his employees do qualify? Please, I beg you to explain me what was that you didn't like. I really need to know details. Thanks for your time and consideration.

I'm confused about a series of edits and I'm hoping you can help. The article "Mord Fustang" was submitted as an article for creation, and you declined it here on Dec. 21st. The article's creator then renamed the article here on Dec. 22nd and re-submitted the article to AfC (without making any of the changes you suggested), where the article was accepted. I've rarely used the AfC process and have never changed the name of an article, so I may be completely incorrect in assuming any WP:GAMING or attempt to subvert your decision. Hi. I'm AJ Gibson's personal assistant. You declined the submission for AJ Gibson who is a TV Talk Show Host. According to your notes, he is not notable enough even though my sources were from well known trade magazines in the industry like The Hollywood Reporter. Furthermore, we need his Wikipedia page to be approved because right now when you search for him, Google is pulling info from A.J. Gibson (Architect) Wikipedia who has been dead for years. Please let me know what else you need to establish notablity. He makes national TV appearances and hosted a national show on FOX. A little confused as to why this was declined. Your feedback on the René Colato Laínez article

Hello! You recently proposed that the article René Colato Laínez be deleted, because "the sources are entirely trivial and unconvincing and he's not held in any libraries". I was wondering if you could be more specific about your critiques -- perhaps on the article's Talk page -- because I particularly don't understand the library comment. His books seem to be held in plenty of libraries (several of his books being held in at least 400 different library systems within the U.S. alone), and I didn't see anything in WP:AUTHOR saying that there's a minimum number of library holdings. I also don't see any justification for your assertion that this article expresses a certain POV; it's mostly pretty dry biographical and bibliographic information. Could you please clarify these points when you get a chance? Thanks!

    Sandbergja (talk) 17:53, 22 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbergja It's not a significant amount of libraries, however. SwisterTwister talk 22:02, 22 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. I guess I'd just like to know what a significant amount of libraries is, in your view. As a librarian myself, I consider that to be a significant number of libraries. Do you have a guideline that you prefer? Honestly, reading through the professor guidelines, I don't see your point. Starting with the first criteria, "The person's research has made significant impact in their scholarly discipline, broadly construed, as demonstrated by independent reliable sources," The first citation I offer (We Salute), seems to substantiate his contribution to his field. Also, the sixth criteria, "The person has held a highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution or major academic society" seems to be covered through his Presidency at The ASA, an organization that seems broadly equivalent to the IEEE (listed as an an example of a permissable society on that page). I added more citations in an attempt to clarify this for you. Does this satisfy, and, if not, can you provide more detail on what you mean? Your one sentence was pretty vague...

What else can be done to get the Col. approved? Many of the sources are independent of each other and have been published. On top of that he has a notable genealogy that should also be considered. Lastly, his home is one of the oldest homes still standing in WNY which is built in the New England style from where he was from.

The article included four references from reliable news sources covering the band as they have toured with a notable Grammy awarding winning artist in recent years. Additionally, the images and references to the band are also currently available with Wikipedia Commons. Can you provide addition guidance on what types of additional coverage would be required to confirm the band's notability? As I have seen other band pages with far less reference information etc., this will help to clarify what more can be added to obtain approval. Thank you for your assistance and I look forward to your feedback as I truly believe this band deserves to be included in the database.

I looked at a number of Wikipedia articles which I used as a reference to write this. Such as the wiki for "My Pillow". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Pillow

That wiki is completely self serving. Mine is less so. If I recraft mine to be more specific about my product only like he did will that work?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi SwisterTwister,

I wonder if you have had the chance to look at the changes I have made to my article draft "Helix Dumper"?

I understand that the article was not accepted because the references did not adequately show the subject's notability. I have now inserted the references as footnotes and the references include articles from both newspapers and journals - all of which are independent sources. The Helix Dumper has generated attention worldwide and the references I have included come from independent sources that originate in at least three different countries. I believe that I have now presented sufficient proof of the subject matter's notability.

In my article I mention a comparable invention in the bulk freight industry - the rotary car dumper. I have included a link to an article about this invention on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotary_car_dumper If you visit the page you'll see that it includes no references and no evidence about its notability. I am therefore confused as to why my article about the Helix Dumper is rejected, while the article about the Rotary car dumper has been approved? The Helix Dumper and the Rotary Turn Dumper are both major inventions that are of similar importance for the bulk freight industry.

I'd appreciate if would have time to look at my draft again and see whether it might perhaps meet the standards for publication?

    Best regards, MHKangas

Hi SwisterTwister, thanks for reviewing the article on SAP Web IDE. I saw that the reject reason was regarding information sources. For this article I used as many non-SAP sources as possible. I used "Enterprise IT World", "CIO", "insideSAP", "TechTarget", "Forbes" and more. I'd appreciate if you can let me know how I can make this article better and published :-).

Hi SwisterTwister, I added some more sources to the Behnam Tabrizi article -- they include Harvard Business Review, Tom Peters of the Chicago Tribune and the San Jose Mercury, and I added another CEO in addition to Schmidt of Google (I added the CEO of the Carlyle Group). Applied business books are typically covered by HBR if they are notable, but they are not reviewed like a novel or a theoretical book. I"m also trying to get a photo of Tabrizi uploaded, but haven't been able to figure that out. Any help is much appreciated!

    Dear SisterTwister,

I'm perfectly willing to accept that my submission might need changes or additional content, but I don't think it would serve the public well by simply inserting the content into the unmanned vehicles page. My connection to the term is because of my involvement in military and civilian tech relating to providing spatial awareness for BVLOS operations. I have expertise in this area, but no experience as a Wiki editor.

I do notice that I can search other acronyms like "LOS". Having an entry for each interpretation of the acronym helps with disambiguation.

BVLOS is an acronym that will be generating a lot of searches over the next few years. It is at the center of a lot of legal and regulatory disputes because it is something that has to be addressed in order for the civilian UAV industry to survive. The first organizations with BVLOS clearance will inevitably end up dominating the industry for decades to come. There are literally billions of dollars at stake, and they can only be realized when regulations governing civilian BVLOS operations are agreed and standardized by organizations like the FAA. We are just starting to see enquiries from the scientific press as to what the "BVLOS" acronym means and why it's important. People will likely also be searching it independently of "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle". Users should be able to determine what the acronym means without having to find it in the context of a longer page.

What can be done to make this entry suitable for publication?

The article needs 'better' major references? Please define better, doesn't Wikipedia base the inclusion of its articles on whether the subjects are talked about? So in your opinion, unless if major media sources are citing a subject, then any exposure a band gets from any other VERIFIABLE media isn't worthy of an inclusion? What a terribly elitist view...Fasching web radio (talk) 11:08, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Cairo contemporary dance center draft article

Hi. I am a bit tired to see that everything that I am trying to publish concerning the Arab world is systematically considered as 'not noticeable enough' by people who probably have never set a foot in this region. My draft article about Cairo contemporary dance centers contains almost 20 references, many links to already existing wikipedia pages. Plus you will find already in wikipedia at least 4 or 5 pages mentioning the center. So yeah, the references might not come from the NY Time or the Washington Post, but most of them come from reputable (notable) local - and English speaking - newspapers and organizations. If UNESCO, Drosos Foundation, Daily News Egypt, Mada Masr, El Ahram, Cairo360, Zawya, and some of world-class choreographers listed in the references are not noticeable enough for you, I guess there is something wrong with wikipedia policy - or people trying to implement it. CCDC is the first African and Arab contemporary dance school, certified by UNESCO, and a major actor in the Egyptian independent art scene, and I think it deserves to have a page on Wikipedia, even if the Times and most of the Western audience don't care about it. I'd appreciate your help in this. Thanx. Taha.Radi (talk) 21:21, 27 December 2016 (UTC)Taha.Radi[reply]

    • I deleted the Mission section. I'd like to understand what you call "major news", as I already have references from all the major English-speaking Egyptian newspaper + notable international organizations such as UNESCO. Taha.Radi —Preceding undated comment added 20:33, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • I already have a dozen of serious reference, i.e. article from reputable Egyptian English-peaking newspapers, among them the most famous, mot read and most distributed ones (Ahram Weekly, Daily News Egypt, Mada Masr). I don't see how I can bring more than that. I want to underline the fact that The Townhouse Gallery or Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival D-CAF, which are organizations of the same level that CCDC, do have wikipedia pages though having way way less references. Even El Sawy Culture Wheel, one of Cairo's most famous venues, has less references than CCDC! There is an obvious double-standard here that I'd like to understand where it come from... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taha.Radi (talkcontribs) 13:37, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    The Rock 'n Roll Rebels

Hi SwisterTwister - regarding the notability of the subject the Rock 'n Roll Rebels were considered as having been part of one of the worst professional wrestling gimmicks of all-time when the competed as "The Ding Dongs" in WCW. Five of the six books that I provided as sources extrapolate on the notoriety of the characters, as do several of the online articles (the sixth book - The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Tag Teams - talks about their time as "The Rock n Roll Rebels"). Their fame - or infamy - comes from the Ding Dong gimmick, and I used historyofwwe.com (which has complete, comprehensive match results for the WWF and WCW by year) to flesh out how their career trajectory abruptly changed following the harsh reception that they received. I could have used YouTube as well, but as I understand that is not an approved reference for Wikipedia. Evans and Sartain are no less notable that enhancement talent that have Wikipedia pages such as George South, Mario Mancini, Dusty Wolfe, or Brady Boone, and I've provided far more sources that any of these pages. Hi there, thanks so much for the review of my page submission. I am desperate to know how I can correct the submission since I basically aligned with other pages in the same field that have already been published. In fact, although they all follow the same format, all the pages that I referred to contain various comments about them sounding too "promotional", "reads like a press release", and "written like an advertisement". The last link provided below only uses their own website as citations. Which is why I am so confused my submission didn't pass yet, their has. I would be so appreciative if you could help me understand what exactly I need to edit to have it published.

    Dear SwisterTwister,

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I have made the following improvements to the article to substantiate Cohen's notability:

    • Added a citation to a New York Times article that quotes Cohen and discusses her book and company; this adds to the list of reliable, independent sources including Forbes, CNN and two appearances on The Today Show;
    • Added a citation to a Booklist review of Cohen's book verified on a third party library website;
    • Referred to translations of Cohen's book into Dutch and Korean;
    • Included a new URL to a more easily accessed PDF of Cohen's Harvard Business Review article "The 40-Year-Old Intern."

Cohen's book also received a review from Business Week and a starred review from Library Journal, to name a notable few, but I am unable to find citations on websites other thanAmazon.com, and I did not know if it would be acceptable to link to that site in this case. If it is okay, please advise.

I am hoping that, with these changes, the article can be published. I truly appreciate anything you can do to help. --BritNSmithy (talk) 18:53, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am mystified by the rejection. (I spent years working in the top magazines in the United States, so I know the difference between PR and neutral reporting.) Sources cited include the New York Times, CNN and the United Nations. How many would it take for you to regard this as adequately sourced?

As for numbers, We Care Solar has served 700,000 woman in the hardest-to-reach places in the world. Is that not a big enough number?

    Your reviewing

This edit comment you added at a draft started me worrying about the standards you apply while reviewing. You stated your willingness for accepting with the addition of some additional sources. However, If I look at it, it's nowhere near an encyclopedic article. The "prose" is a barely readably sea of blue lacking any informative story. Moreover, the tables are at odds with Wikipedia not being a directory of TV broadcasts. So, I really struggle to see how you would judge this worthy of being accepted.Tvx1 23:10, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but the basis of a television show at least being sourced by hopefully significant news is what would've made it acceptable. SwisterTwister talk 23:12, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your review and feedback. I felt the PCA Predict page was notable as they were the developers of cloud based address verification which is discussed in a long standing address verification article, previously it could only be done by purchasing CD databases from the postal providers. I also thought the notion of turning down $100m for the business was of notable interest.

There are many companies on Wikipedia that have no interest other than presenting their history and products so not sure what is being classed as notable.

Happy to take your advice and if the above is not considered of interest I will delete the article.

Hi SwisterTwister Thank you for reviewing. I have a few issues with your decline. Wikipedia policies state: the person who is the topic of a biographical article should be "worthy of notice" or "note" – that is, "remarkable" or "significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded.

The person I am writing about is without question a "one in 50 million" person. A two-time hall of fame member (one of only 31 women selected to such honors in 37 years?), well known across the country by notable professionals in her sport (Teata Semiz, Parker Bohn III, Del Ballard Jr. to name a few), a 15x tournament winner - and, not to mention a "one in 50 million" slot machine winner.

Val Johannessen is "worthy of notice", she is remarkable and significant in her sport, and she has an interesting and unusual story.

The comment you left: "Simply nothing satisfying our sports notabilities and what's here is simply too trivial to satisfy the needed substance in our policies" does not help me refine the article. Thank you.Fast427 (talk) 14:17, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for taking a look, I tried to provide as much reliable information about the body of work this artist produced that is notable for me. The guy is being mixed with homonym techno artists in Spotify, Deezer, AppelMusic et all and obviously he is much more notable than the other Daniel Diaz in terms of quality and amount of work done in the last 25 years. But that's my take.

As for the "Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did " can you please point me to what exactly is promotional so I can delete it? I see biographical info and Discography as comprehensive as I could find putting together several sources. I'll start removing the adjectives I guess.

Finally for he "the links are simply album listings, announcements and trivial mentions" both Ref 7 and Ref 8 are serious reviews (one quite recent the other some months old) that are very good reviews by independent media.

Anyway, thanks for you fast response on this, I didn't expect it. Guess I'll keep learning and try to provide info to other notable artist (most already present in Wikipedia) instead of trying to file an unknown artist I like.
