The Band of Hope

EP cover designed by band member Warwick Brock

The Band of Hope was a popular New Zealand jug band that played folk music in Christchurch in the 1960's. The band was heavily influenced by American bluegrass music, country, blues and folk.

Folk music was an integral part of the Christchurch music scene in the early 1960s. Various coffee bars around the city hosted groups well before the University Of Canterbury Folk Music Club was officially born in 1964.
