Deletion tags
[edit]So apparently if I was gone for a week this article would've just been deleted. Lucky I wasn't. Alright: deletion is not an option here. Girl-wonder is a reliable and trustworthy source and this is a research thesis done by a feminist writer. Clearly the documents talked about exist: School Friend Annual o shi-! So this doesn't fit the criteria for speedy deletion at all. Before tagging an article for deletion please make sure some random IP didn't come along and basically delete the original contents of the article, which were supported by the source, because that's what happened, they made their own unsourced additions. I'll trust it for now in terms of the names until we know otherwise.
Since it exists, deletion is not an option. A merge is a possible option. Since these characters appear in the Annuals for 'School Friend' if a larger article for School Friend is created then it could be merged into that. As of now I have no data on other stories in this publication though. I have reason to think that the Silent Three are the most notable group out of the School Friend series, for example read this blog:
- “The Silent Three” appear to be the most famous characters of the School Friend’s comic strips (they are in that British Comics book with Korky on the cover, dontcha know). I think that in it’s earlier days the paper also contained Charles Hamilton stories, but there’s none of that in this book. The Silent Three themselves belonged to a secret society in thier boarding school who put on robes and masks and fought against injustice (Kind of like a genteel version of V for Vengeance?) Here they are on thier summer holidays, but another school is still in session and Betty’s cousin, captain of the fourth, is upset at her form being framed for a series of pranks. The pranks turn out to be the work of a corrupt prefect who has found a clue to a treasure hidden within the school and wants to keep it for herself. Whilst this may not be by Charles Hamilton it isn’t straying too far from his territory! (Nb. British girl’s comics, and probably storypapers before them, where almost entirely written by men)
Here for example, is the 1958 issue on say at E-Bay. It clearly exists, and Fleetway is a notable comic book company. Tyciol (talk) 21:20, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
