I contribute since 2005, here and to other wikipedias and wikimedia projects, in English, French, German, Japanese and 11 other languages.
Projects
[edit]I maintain the WP:ASE project, which is an analysis tool aimed at improving articles' quality. Please participate, it's fast and easy :-)
I also maintain the WRS project, a search engine to use when looking for references.
I have a few other projects in limbo:
- Add images from Wikidata to articles that lack an image (list of articles, discussion). I want to create a webapp for persons with an infobox that shows both the Commons image page and Wikipedia article in IFrames (to check metadata/etc), then upon the human user's decision either denylists the image or adds it to the infobox's "image=" parameter.
- Peer Online-Reference Editing: to enhance the overall quality of references, I suggest separating the work of finding references from the work of enhancing them. The reference finder would just write <ref>http://someurl</ref>. The reference enhancer would then come, open the reference link, check that the source is authoritative, check that it indeed confirms the fact, and format it with a nice filled template. First benefit: adding a reference is faster, leading to more references. Second benefit: references are peer-reviewed, leading to better references quality. Not enhancing your own online references could become a guideline. The enhancers' work could be made faster with a web application to would automatically suggest the kind of template and some fields, such as the article's name, the author's name, or the access date.
- Wikilink Everything: If an article mentions Japan several times, then I feel that Japan should be wikilinked each time. Right now, the policy is to only wikilink the first occurrence. I feel this selection should be done by the Wikimedia software when rendering the page. Wikilinks are always useful, they make the meaning behind a word explicit with a reference to the concept.
