Police are investigating the cause of a fatal car crash that claimed the life of a three-year-old child on Wednesday evening.
A Mitsubishi ASX was travelling along Lowmead Road in the rural town of Rosedale, some 400km north of Brisbane, about 7.30pm, Queensland Police said.
Initial investigations by the forensic crash unit indicated the SUV veered off the road and crashed, police said.
Despite efforts by bystanders and emergency services, a three-year-old passenger of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
The 38-year-old female driver of the vehicle was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with minor injuries.
An eight-month-old passenger was not injured.
