Sei's first journey abroad in this other world is to Zaidera and she's trying her hand at making magical amulets! She's also over the moon about her engagement to Albert. While busy with wedding preparations, Sei overhears how one of the members of First Prince Kyle's delegation to Zaidera is now bedridden with an unknown illness. Naturally, Sei can't just stand idly by, and, with that, her trip to Zaidera is hurriedly assured. However, upon her arrival, Kyle informs Sei that no one is sick and to make matters worse, the port has been closed, so they're now stuck abroad!
Well, this is disappointing. Nothing happened in this book. Yuri Drewes is an unrepentant self serving jackass. Sei is more moronic by the minute now making it even more obvious that she's that jackhole's doormat. Where did the backbone go that she had in the first book? She saved them from extermination, why is she feeling she needs to appease Yuri when he doesn't get a lot of sea monsters to fight? And everyone took stupid pills apparently. "Do you think they stole the seal to make the letter? Is the closing of the ports connected to the delegation's arrival?" YES!! The port closed the instant they arrived! The letter was sus from minute one! Like for real!!! Oscar - supposed James Bond equivalent in Salutania - you're fired!!! Jeez! No wonder Kyle got kicked out of the country. What a bunch of idiots! It feels like the author is dragging it out and killing the charm of the series. She still hasn't answered the question of Aira. The salutanians did that girl dirty and no one touches her now. They literally made sure to isolate her. Her only friends are Sei and Liz but they are crappy friends. She serves in Magi Assembly as mostly Yuri's toy. This is painful cuz I really liked Sei

For the first time I’d have to say I’m pretty disappointed. The story was pretty much half the book and an incomplete story. It was like it was cut off in an odd way. I hope the next volume is better.
Sei is lured into traveling to Zaidera to heal the first prince, who sailed abroad as an ambassador, but he’s not sick when she arrives. Then the port is closed, trapping her in Zaidera. Is somebody after the panacea or her?
One of the aspects of this series that I loved was the power of the saint and her miraculous healing, as well as watching her adapt to her New World. Now the monsters are all managed, and she’s adapting just fine. There’s no more conflict. So the author took her to a new continent with new magic and new mysteries.
The only problem is that she’s trapped indoors solving the mystery. It’s not quite her typical adventure. The scale seems smaller, so I hope that future episodes in this story will capture some of the wonder that I loved so much from the earlier volumes.
Now, about that script.
Some people have expressed dismay or displeasure that this volume felt short. They’re not wrong. The story ended 77% of the way through the book. Starting about a year ago, the author has only been updating her web novel every three months. She took a break from Saint and wrote and published other books. The publisher probably gathered what they could, then padded the book with the drama CD script.
However, the release of volume 9 was a big deal. It’s not as if the publishers hung their heads in shame. There were months of promotion and a special edition with a $25 acrylic standee of Albert & Sei, plus other goodies. Adding the script of a drama CD from an earlier special edition was a big get. If you were a Japanese fan who missed out on that drama CD, this was the closest you could get to it.
In Japan, drama CDs are big business, and voice actors (seiyuu) are celebrities with large followings. Some seiyuu even release music albums and perform concerts. If you search for “TVアニメ『聖女の魔力は万能です Season2』 放送カウントダウン アルベルト・ホークver.” on YouTube, you can hear Takahiro Sakurai—who voices Albert Hawke—get fans excited for the second season of the anime with his breathy, sexy voice. It’s so over the top, it makes me laugh, but then I’m not the target audience. His was the sole voice featured on the drama CD from earlier. That’s why the story is in his POV.
All that being said, however, the script falls flat without the foley artists and seiyuu bringing it to life. It’s cute, but not compelling reading.
Despite all that, I enjoyed the book and look forward to seeing more from Yuka Tachibana.
I am giving this volume 1 star for several reasons First, it was an exceptionally short volume (242 ebook pages for the main story, which is on the small side compared to most LNs I read — most of which are more than 300 pages, usually closer to 400 ebook pages). And the rest of the book was filled with scripts from an audio drama (which I cared nothing about). Secondly, the premise for this particular volume was completely ridiculous. Decisions were made that were illogical. There was plenty of reason for suspicion by the King and his Prime Minister and they still allowed things to proceed that were irrational given the situation. It was clearly a situation where the author wanted to create a particular scenario so they threw aside all logic and did what they wanted even though no one who was applying reason would have agreed to the decisions that were made. Bad premise + incredibly short volume made for a bad reading experience and me feeling like it was worth neither my time nor money to have bought and read. And unfortunately since it was a short volume, it was only part 1 of (what I assume will be) a 2 part story, so next volume I have to read the continuation of these irrational plot choices. This is a fail that I put on both the author and editor (because if an author has a bad idea, the editor should at least try to steer it in a more logical direction and that did not occur here).
Engagement finally has become official. The actual marriage is some time off, and what is a few more months when an opportunity arises for Sei for a trip to a foreign country (something she wished to do even in her previous life)? And it was Albert who pushed her into it. The progress in the romance is welcome, and Sei's interactions with Albert are cute. I especially like how he take's Sei's wishes into account and pushes her into fulfilling them. The unexpected trip and problems are an interesting plot twist. Two minor complaints though. Why was Sei kept out of the loop of the suspicions of people? And it was rather short even compared to most light novels. O well, an entertaining quick read with a bit of cute romance and foreign magic and intrigue.
What's that saying about one step forward and two steps back? They finally got Sei's engagement figured out, and now the wedding is on hold while not just one party, but both of them along with the crown prince, grand magus, and several others are trapped overseas. At least it seems no one there realizes Sei is the Saint, but beyond that they've yet to figure out if they're after their miracle cure, magic, or very remotely possibly something else altogether. It seems hard to believe with the timing that the theft closing down the ports doesn't have something to do with healing.

The situation rn is interesting, but I feel like not much happened by way of figuring out the "mystery" behind this. I'm sure the talismans Yuri is working on will be involved in some capacity later on, but literally little else happened. I think the pages dedicated to the audio drama scripts took up too much space (and not every reader would be interested in them).

I feel like the author is now trying to prolong Sei story as the saint. I don’t know why the second prince and Liz are engage? Liz would have been a great Queen. I feel that the king was to easy on releasing Sei to go to another kingdom. I honestly find a lot of issues with this volume. The extra stories at the end of the volume was unnecessary.
While the group does travel in this novel, it really does not feel like much else occurs. There is a notable feeling of.... Perhaps boredom? Among the characters and the events of the story in general. It seems as though the author cannot find her spark in this edition.
I am still curious on how the story will progress but I am tired of reading the author's prose style. So I will not auto-buy this series anymore. I need to save money anyway and there are other books higher up on my priority list. So just like Seirei Gensouki, I will put this series on hiatus until a good number of volumes have accumulated (or it ends).
This was so short! I hope that the author can write longer.
So far, I like the idea of Sei and company going abroad and exploring the country that is similar to China since the culture is very familiar to her. It's also nice that we have seen a peek from Kyle's POV this time and how awkward he feels around Sei.
Hope their will be more content in the next volume.
An easy read, and I really love the twist in this book! I was worried the series would just wrap up, but they've gone in a very exciting new direction. I can't believe I have to wait half a year for the next volume, I want it now!!
I just finished rewatching season 2 of the anime and was craving more… only to realise that this volume had come out since the last time I looked!! So exciting.
This was such a fun time. We have a new country to explore, magical talismans, the return of Prince Kyle and so much other fun stuff! We love.
I also adored the audio drama scripts that were included!! Al just being so incredibly in love with Sri is such a delight.
Loved the first chapter with Sei and the Hawke family. I really want more of the romance in this series. The rest of the chapters was okay. I got a little bored when reading about Yuki's research on the talismans and the inks/sumi inks though. I'm intrigued though who has closed the Zaidera borders and who sent them that letter to come and heal Prince Kyle when he was fine.
