The demons of Tartaros are murdering Council members to try to get to a secret weapon with the power to wipe out all who would oppose them in one fell swoop. But what is this weapon? How could killing ex-Council members help them get it? And how do they even know about it in the first place? Natsu and his friends need to solve these mysteries if they hope to stand up to the demons!
Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.
He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.
Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.
Fairy Tail has fan service. It has a lot of fan service. I don't particularly care for fan service, but it also doesn't usually bother me, I just skim past and get on with the adventure or fight or whatever. But... wow. This may be the first volume of this manga I'd be nervous about people seeing me read in public. There are bits of this which would not be easily distinguished from a hentai manga. SO much nudity, including some really blatant angles. Tentacle torture. The absolute nonsense that is removing a person's senses *including touch* and then upping their pain receptors *which are part of their sense of touch.* I mean, seriously. It was gratuitous and added nothing to the volume.
And it's a shame because there is some good stuff happening in this volume. The bits with Elfman are tense, the reveal about one of the Tartaros members was not surprising but definitely cool and the Jellal stuff was good. But the bad WAY outweighed the good. For the first time ever, I'm not particularly looking forward to the next book. And that sucks.

90% fan service into the main plot now and it doesn't even make sense. Natsu even questioned it. "Why do they gotta steal our clothes?!"
Good question Natsu. It made no sense. Everyone was naked. And there was some character whose beard looked like he had a giant pair of balls on his face.
At this point, I'm only continuing to read because I've committed to this series and there's 20 volumes left. I'm over 50% through so I might as well finish it off. Hopefully it gets better and there's less extremely random fan service throughout the remainder. They must've been trying to increase their ratings.
I actually really liked this volume a lot. The strong storytelling continues and the fighting is paced well. The art is stellar. But, it really could do with less fan service. It detracts from the series. Needs to be toned down.
4/5 My first new volume of Fairy Tail after not reading for 7 months. The Tartaros Arc is now in full effect. After taking out the council and Laxus Fairy Tail steps in.
A few fun battles here but they’re mostly one sided in Tartaros’ favor but good times. We’ll see what happens next now that Tartaros has control of Face, a weapon of mass destruction.
Some delightfully naughty panels of our heroines in trouble here as well.
Jellal and Oracion Seis on the cover of Volume 43.
The arbitrary decision to make captive characters naked and then frame multiple instances of their supposedly humiliating position in a sexual way (whether that is funny-sexy or creepy-sexy or whatever), is just beyond gross. And the different ways men’s vs women’s nudity is portrayed in this series is really unfortunate.
I get that not everyone will be bothered by the fact that, for some reason (we all know the reason), the panel of Mirajane kicking some enemies is positioned and cropped exactly so to display her skimpy outfit, her crotch and ass, and not any actual impact of her attack. But if you keep in mind the series’ bad history of calls about when it is and is not appropriate to objectify the female characters (the answer seems to be: it is always appropriate. Just look at the plethora of “we’re just showing Lucy’s ass for no reason” panels throughout.), then look at the torture sequences that have very clear sexual overtones... Does it not want to make you want to throw up in your mouth, even a little? I’m not kink-shaming BDSM at all, just... time and place, man.
As to the rest of the volume... There are cool moments, decent twists. Natsu gets a great entrance. Villains are played-up quite well. And the Oracion Seis thing is finally paying off (even though when I was reading the series on a weekly basis, I had no earthly memory of who they were other than past villains I guess?). But still-boring evil antagonists diminishes what the literal torture-porn does not.
1/5 - Some stuff happens, but I was too frustrated by the relentless assault of extra-disgusting fanservice to care.
This volume is pushing me to the edge of quitting Fairy Tail. I've stuck with it this far basically because of Erza, and the fact that unlike other shonen I could mention, the women actually have some good fights.
But the longer the series has progressed, the worse the fanservice has gotten. I don't mind some, but the last few volumes have been frustrating because of the amount and how it's so blatant. I think there were two multi page bath scenes in the space of three volumes?
Point being, it was already getting on my nerves, and then this volume. Naked and tortured. It's grossly gratuitous. There's even tentacles! I was tempted to hurl it across the room, but alas, I was reading on my Kindle and it didn't deserve that.
The character deserves so much better.
Plus, there was a stupid big fight thrown in for no reason with characters who weren't part of the main action. It's called use your words, moron. And it wasn't Natsu, who I expect to use fists over words.
AMAZING. So much happened in this book! I was all tense and upset because Jellal just never seems to get a break in life. No spoilers, but all his scenes were so EPIC. He came back with a badass bang! Then tartaros is the first enemy to ever actually make me feel like fairy tail might actually have some losses trying to defeat them, and it broke my heart to see my favorite characters being in the situations they were in. So much going on with the plot, including Gray's dad. Natsu was hilarious as always, and though many people tend to complain about the fan service I didn't really mind because it made for some really funny moments. The entire edition was just the feels all the way! Can't wait until the anime version is released! To make a long story short (or less long
Well, the author is certainly going to lengths to show how evil Tartaros is. Only a few interesting developments in this volume - even the fights didn't do that much for me - and it loses a lot of points for going right on past fanservice to full-fledged fetish stuff in the torture scenes. I hope this doesn't become the new norm, because I might not be sticking around if it is. (C+)
Why is everyone naked? Does it even matter if Mashima can draw them well? Perhaps a little, because the outright torture of Erza is decidedly uncomfortable. Seeing Jellal in action, however, goes a long way to making this a better book.
Good job! Kana! Kana is one of my favorite character so I have hoped that Kana plays an important role again since the story of Tenryu Island. She doesn’t have a strong magic but she always be a great supporter for main characters. On the other hand....., Elfmahhhhhhhhhn!! 😡😡😡 You, idiot! You sometimes do such as foolish things!
Fairy tail is an ongoing series of manga created by Hiro Mashima. This man has created a world called Magnolia where some of my favorite character live, like: Natsu, Grey, Erza and Lucy. Book 43 is far into a segment into a story about wizards currently fighting a group of demons called Tartaros . In fairy tail book 43 by Hiro Mashima the storyline is complex. Basically, the guild of fairy tail has been fighting Tartaros who want to destroy all magic in the world. Though the plots events, we see events the author’s message that the wizards at fairy tail and the ex council members(leaders of Magnolia) are in danger as more members in Tartaros show up and bring havoc. We understand this theme through events such as when the a member of Tartaros makes Elfman betray fairy tail to save the life of Lizana (his sister). An important quote from the book reinforcers the theme, “In demon’s stories, the word mercy is nowhere to be found”. This is important because it tells the reader that the demons will fight without mercy until there mission is fulfilled The read was memorable because I knew each of the characters well and cool fight scenes to be add with new magic power like the power to set mine anywhere in one second or get other to to the users bidding. The possibility that the book suggest are that face (a weapon that could destroy the purpose of the series) could be set off if the heros/ oracion seis don’t make it in time. The way I have described the book has now occurred to be action packed and entertaining and I think it is interesting to see the characters get stronger as they develop. Although this was a fast read, it was worth the time because I get to see lots of action and great lines from the the characters and it was interesting how the story was driven with more plot twists. After reading the last page of fairy tail book 43 I was left feeling on my toes to see what will happen, I wanted questions to be answered so I am excited for my next read.
In an effort to protect the remaining ex council members, fairy tail starts to learn exactly what Tartaros is after and man oh man it’s not good. This volume definitely showed the the skill level and power of Tartaros but I wasn’t exactly a fan on how it was shown. Is there really a reason why literally everyone ends up naked? Not sure if the explanation is good enough for me.
Since when did members of Fairy Tail beg? I disapprove of everyone in this entire volume, even Ezra, except for Jellal. In fact I'm the most disappointed in Ezra.
ENG I will talk about volume 41 to 45 in my review (without spoilers). I really liked what I read in these volumes; we can clearly see the evolution for certain characters and that does a lot of good. I was very moved during several scenes. And despite the too much "fan-service" (as usual); I enjoyed my reading much more. We feel that everything is moving, as if things were already going towards the end, when not yet. I can't wait to read more !
Thoughts on this volume: - A small, business-like part of me thinks that Jellal absolutely could've made that fight with Oracion Seis a conversation.... like you didn't need to go all Grand Chariots on them, Jellal. - Side note: we are 43 volumes in, and I STILL don't know what Jellal's magic does. - Silver reacting to Gray's name.... see when you're a DEADBEAT! -The Gruvia moment!!! It was everything, I'm so looking forward to their 1 year time skip living together bullshit. They're dating now, to ME. - Natsu being the bug brain who figured out the stuff with the Chairman? Insane!!! It's insane how perceptive he is when it comes to battle and fighting, he's really sharp. - Having already read this, and knowing the end, any and every E.N.D. reference is making me giggle a little. - Elfman 😭😭

Tartaros (The Dark Guild) continues to run wild leaving destruction and death everywhere they journey to. What is Tartaros goal in killing the Guild Council Members? If Tartaros is aiming for these council members, then you know whatever key they hold is to something of unimaginable magnitude. The fan service is down a notch from volume 42,….but only slightly! The fan service is out there for everyone to see. That has to be the biggest change I feel about the book, which has consistently had it…but it’s been ramped up these last two volumes. The art is as always breathtakingly done and the story compelling. This volume feels slightly like a Case Closed volume as Natsu and the gang must solve the mysteries surrounding the demons…because failure seems to have critical consequences!
Eine sehr dumme Idee das Siegel an zwei alte Herren und einen zu Tode verurteilten Verbrecher zu binden. Also spätestens nach Jelalls Enttarnung hätte man da doch was machen müssen.

Well, this was a dark chapter. Though the chairman was kind of an idiot at the end there. It was nice to get a sweet Gruvia moment though, which seemed out of nowhere until the whole Zero reveal.
It's also, not nice, but good for storytelling to see Erza and Natsu not be invincible for once.
