The Heroes of Olympus: The Graphic Novels #2

The Son of Neptune: The Graphic Novel

Rate this book
Percy is confused. When he awoke after his long sleep, he didn’t know much more than his name. His brain-fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight. Somehow Percy manages to make it to the camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he had to continually kill monsters that, annoyingly, would not stay dead. But the camp doesn’t ring any bells with him.

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn’t do a very good job of it. When the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her “gift” for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn’t say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother claims he is descended from ancient heroes and can be anything he wants to be, but he doesn’t see it. He doesn’t even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery―although not good enough to help the Fifth Cohort win at war games. His big and bulky physique makes him feel like a clumsy ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely―enough, even, to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Featuring a faithful adaptation by Robert Venditti, and incredible artwork by Antoine Dodé and Orpheus Collar, Rick Riordan's blockbuster book comes to life in The Son of Neptune, The Graphic Novel .

I enjoyed this graphic adaptation of The Son of Neptune! Since the original novel is long, this graphic novel couldn't include everything. Still, I wish some parts were included because it felt rushed. In general, I like the illustrations and hope to read the rest of the series later!

Okay, not as bad as the other graphic novels for Percy Jackson. Some of the images and characters were still quite a bit strange and not what I had in mine, but overall, I thought this was such a solid improvement in art. I actually really liked it most of the time.

I thought the story was very well done, too. They kept a lot of the important parts, but they did take a few things out that I did love (especially concerning the ending). However, it was a good rendition of the novel, and it kept moving along wonderfully.

Also, I see what you did there with the stuffed animals, Disney, and I wholeheartedly approve. Love it.

Four crowns and an Ariel rating, because what else could I do for the son of Neptune?

Loved it.

I enjoy reading graphic novels for books I have already read, because they bring a story I already love to life.

I will say this though. The guy who illustrated this graphic novel must be a huge Nico fan, because he drew him hella sexy. Meanwhile, Percy just seemed like your average joe hero (and he's supposed to be older then him by a couple of years), while Nico is walking around with these sexy bangs, always shrouded in broody shadows, and sounding ominous. I lived for it.

Well first off I wanna say this is actually the way I had pictured Percy Jackson to look. I won't say i'm a big fan of Rick Riordan`s work but I did enjoy this action novel. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick read to clear their mind and get lost in the world of Demi-gods. I started to read this book as part of my school assignment but now i'm sad that i started this book series from the second book. I'm going to finish the entire series this summer.

It's definitely more difficult to connect with new characters in graphic novel form than I remember it being in normal book form, but I still felt the same anticipation throughout, just waiting for Percy and Annabeth to find their way back to each other.

I think it’s getting better. Are they planning to make a graphic novel for the remaining books in the series? It’s been a few years. This one was released in 2017…

Good

Good, but to truly enjoy the hero's of Olympus story you have to read the word for word books because you miss out on the emotions and jokes at certain parts. I recommend using the graphic novels as a way of rereading the series without actually rereading the thousands of pages.

I really enjoyed this version of the book! There is a slight difference from the books but I won't complain, I know not everything can make it to the books and I enjoyed more the art of this version than the previous novels.

I don't really like the way Percy is drawn, not to mention that there are some scenes which I really wanted to be in here.

I finally finished the 2nd book in the Heroes of Olympus series! I started reading this book last summer and I just couldn't get past the first 100 pages since it was just like The Lost Hero but with different characters. If I didn't pick up this graphic novel I wouldn't have continued on with the series.
ANYWHO... I thought this was alright. The artwork was completely different from how I originally thought out the characters to be like but it wasn't that bad. But to me, this book lacked the magic that once had me hooked to Riordan's work. While I enjoy his work, the same setup is in every single book (something happens, our characters need to go on an adventure/quest, fight off the bad guy, save the day, happy ending, and repeat), and I'm just hoping the 3rd book in this series can break this spell. While the graphic novel may have left out some details, this version gave me a quicker way to read it and actually finish it when I didn't think I'd even continue on with this series. I ended up giving this graphic novel 3/5 stars for it just being alright.

How could this came from the book with the same title???!!!

Ugh. So dissapointing. I never liked the artwork from the first time, But THE STORY WASN'T EVEN IDENTICAL. There are some parts in this graphic novel that was LITERALLY the opposite of what the novel described. I know, because I read them together. That was fatal. Don't you think a graphic novel adapted from a novel should be identical ???

The 2 stars are for the effort and the graphic that helps me imagining the descriptions from the book.

I would recommend this to no one.

I think I enjoyed the art in this one a little more even though it's not as finely detailed as the other. Or maybe I just enjoyed seeing Percy again. Or Nico (since his hair was on point). The action sequences were good (though sometimes cut waaay too short) and the dialogue was engaging. I loved that the story worked its way around to including the Roman counterparts to the Greek gods and camps! Made the story even more intriguing. I wish there was another graphic novel after this but I guess I'll just have to finally read the books!!

After the set up of the first novel, this was a great follow up. I really enjoyed seeing the exchange of Leader in this novel. It was a great beginning of an overall plot line. should definitely be a great series once it all comes together.

I’m honestly not even going to rate it because I’m so upset with how the illustrator whitewashed Hazel. I’d give it negative stars just for that alone.

Great, easy read. Especially if you like PJO. Good adaption of the book by Riordan overall, although, a few MAJOR puzzle pieces were left out that set up the story for later. Would have liked to see those included.

There were some scenes that I feel should've been included. This is rated lower more for the fact that the characters look really odd to me. Most of them do not look like how they're described. The most accurate one is Nico.
