If You Were Here is a short story about what happens to Brianna when she was three years old. One night Russell Brianna's dad was woken by Josie who was hearing noises from the swamp on his station and went down to investigate but did not realise that worst thing are going to happen to him that day. That night on his return he home he found no lights on the homestead and Brianna crying. Were was Josie? Readers of If You Were Here needs to read Suddenly One Summer to find out the answer.
If You Were Here is a lovely short story that helps me to understand the background of Suddenly One Summer. I enjoy reading Fleur McDonald's books and If You Were Here did not disappoint. I enjoy Fleur McDonald style of writing that lays out the plot in a way that ensures that I can feel the pain and fear that Russell was suffering searching for his wife. I love Fleur McDonald portrayal of her characters.

I'm ever so glad this is a kindle/ ebook story. I was a little disappointed how short the story is but I see it leads into Brianna grown up book which I'm waiting to receive and read. Ready for Dave to solve a mystery.
