Surviving Lord Darius's attack put Elorion's level over the top. He must soon leave the Mistress's Labyrinth for the unknown dangers of the Underworld.
There are three paths that stand before him. Should he absorb all the Blue Magic he can find, power level his fellow captives, or take on the bone palace alone?
This was exactly what I have been looking for in a litrpg for a few weeks now. Loving the abilities, the stats, all the characters work great and don't feel like filler, no crazy grammar issues and am just stoked for the future books. Feel free to comment to ask any specific questions. 8/10, not 10 only because I like books around 700 pages and I reserve 10/10 for books that affect me profoundly in some way. Hope you understand the criticism with that grading.
This is book 2 in a series. For a sequel I was beyond impressed, it not only equaled the first installment but far surpassed it.
The premise of the series is a bunch of gamers get kidnapped and brought to the Underworld where they are bound to a Succubus who drains their excess mana instead of eating them. (She has given up on eating men, a diet). Now these gamers ate playing a real life or death MMORPG in the Underworld. This is an overpowered book with no level limit and uber high level bad guys (in the thousands and tens of thousands). Thus level gain and stats are much higher than in most LitRPG's. Though the levels of these stats are well based.
I liked this more than the first book but still some improvement needed. Dialogue is still mainly just a bunch of one liners and we’ve still not really learned about people at all. It’s nice they’re all working together with less solo adventures.
I mentioned the very fast pace in the first book and it’s still fast, but when the main antagonists seem to still be 20-30x as strong as them then it’s not quite fast enough. Needs to somehow increase progression without losing everything else.
This is easily one of my favorite LitRPG books. The story is extremely captivating and I love how there isn’t a ridiculous amount of romance. Please, please, please hurry on the next one and don’t stop making them!
Enjoyed the first book much more than the 2nd. This one seems to be collections of fight scenes with limited plot or character development (asides from levelling from all the fights).
I have read every book the mighty Apollos has put out and this one defiently does not disappoint. The action is packed all the way throughout until the very last page and leave you grasping for me and yelling because you have to wait.
The character development is amazing and each and every character is fleshed out and brought to life even more then before. Everyone is only trying to survive in this harrowing yet amazingly fun to read adventure.
This is an amazing continuation of the story and picks up right where book one leaves you. It pulls you along on the dark and mystifying adventures of these unlikely heros.
I would most definitely recommend everyone read this story and buy every other book this man has wrote. I cant say enough of how I have enjoyed everystory and especially how this one develops the underworld.
Buy it and buy it now you will not regret getting this story and continuing the amazing adventures within.
I devoured this book and was ecstatic every moment. I got this book not realizing it was the second in the series, which gave me a lot a questions in the beginning. I had no background and world/setting solidified and this alone was going to be my only complaint. Being that this wasn't the case and the story made up for the lack of backstory and then some, I am beyond pleased with this book and am only sad that I have to wait for the next one to come out! -The characters, priceless. Their flirtatious and witty convorsations were my favorite parts in this book; not only was charming and cute, but it was also very refreshing to see pure relationships flowering between the different characters. -The action, righteousssssss! Sooo good, kept me on my toes and my eyes glued to the pages... Oh you want to hear more about the fights?.. No silly! Read it yourself! -The world, beautiful. I don't know if this is a personal thing or not but I experianced a beautiful, colorful imagination when reading this book, but the discriptions were not too full that you would feel overstuffed, just enough to be happily satisfied.
Apollos Thorne creates another great book! I thought everything flowed great. He did a great job continuing to develop the characters and the game mechanics. In the next book I look forward to the development of the back stories of the other characters (besides the main character) and the crafting side of the game mechanics. Also there has been little about loot/items being found.
Definitely great book the only real problem is the next one is not available for me to read now.
If Codename Freedom is a fancy 5-course meal that you enjoy because of its complexity and wine pairings, Underworld - Through the Belly of the Beast is that go-to burger joint that you daydream about when you want something fun, filling and delicious.
Be aware that the moroseness that follows a burger binge is also present, just directed at the timeline between this book and the next in the series.
I first read this as it was being written on Royalroadl. It saddens me that the author will no longer be doing this. Mistakes: Honestly, for once I wasn't looking and nothing stood out to knock me from the flow of the story. Plot: Not much to it. A continuation of book one. Our hero and his crew are moving forward in their travels. Characters: likable, but I still feel they are all overpowered and a bit immature.
I thoroughly enjoyed the second book of the series. It was an excellent book and I can't wait for the second one. The only problems I had were tiny grammar ones, and the lack of stars throughout the book. I had trouble telling what Elorion's stars were without the periodic character sheet. Otherwise, I'm eagerly awaiting the third book.
I usually don't like deviations this far off from the standard levelling rules and spell systems; but, I really like this author's take on them. There are times in the book when you have to check and make sure your not at the end. The author acts like the story is wrapping up. Then when you do hit the end your like, "Damn, that can't be the end!"
A good continuation to underworld level up few typos and a solid story the game mechanics are solid throughout elorion isnt as overpowered as he was in book 1 he just has an ability that is poison to most underworld creatures and uses it in creative ways. A must read for any litrpg fans
Couldn’t put this down. There seems to be no limits to the ingenious new spells and game mechanics Appollos can come up with! And the battle scenes are a sensation. The trouble I have been getting in with my wife because I was reading when she was trying to talk to me.... better than the first - which is massive praise.
Exactly what i was hoping for in a sequel. Although i do wish there was more of what made the first book so great: elorion hunting alone. I enjoyed the focus on the main character. Eagerly await the next one.
If you were a fan of the first book and loved the unique progression and skills, you will enjoy this book. Apollos throws in quite a bit of action and a few plot twists that make it an enjoyable ride. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
This book picks up where the first one ended. Lots of things change for our heros, but the story is great. If you liked the first book, then pick up this one.
A really fun story with depth. It wouldn't seem like it at first, but we find out fast that maybe the main character isn't quite as over powered as we first thought. Apollo Thorne never disappoints with his stories!
If you liked first book you'll love the fights a d development of the second. a little predictable but still fun waiting for part 3. Totally RPG in book format with quests and fight and new dungeon. Can't wait until next book.
Liked it better than the first, keep checking how much was left. Can't wait for the third book. Plus in kindle unlimited always a plus, to any in RPGLIT left after some were banned fearing they where next. Please Amazon fix this
I liked the first Underworld book, but I loved the second one even more! I've read alot of litrpg, and these are easily my favorite. The fact that it's all real life or death and not in a computer is a breath of fresh air for the genre.
Well written, good world building and interesting characters/plot. Kinda of a transition from the first book as its goes from dungeon diving to dungeon management. Im excited to read more though.
