Sex has never been my main priority. Not what people expect to hear from someone who’s been head camera man for the single best studio in the kind of industry I work in.
I thought I’d seen it all working for the Ballsy Boys, but helping to build the Kinky Boys from the ground up seems like it’s going to be an eye opening experience.
A man has never turned my head before, so why can’t I stop checking out Daddy?
Sex might not be the height of excitement for me, but watching subs kneel for their Daddies certainly has me wondering…
What does it mean if a Daddy Dom keeps trying to feed me and make sure I’m okay? And what does it mean if I kind of like it?
Daddy is the first book in the Kinky Boys series, a spin off from the bestselling Ballsy Boys series. It can be read as a stand alone and ends with a HEA.
K.M.Neuhold has long since been a romance junkie. When she’s not writing she’s reading or spending time snuggling with her husky or her husband. She fell in love with M/M romance last year and hasn’t been able to turn back. There’s nothing she loves more than love in all its forms.
Okay, Okay, I have to admit that I'm a bit uncomfortable with the ‘Daddy’ kink, I am, but the theme of straight man falling for a man is a theme I enjoy so I just had to give this one a chance. I did cringe.. a lot. And while Hunter was a daddy - as in he takes care of his boys -, he wasn't all that alpha male. Then there's the age, which normally wouldn't have been a problem, but they keep mentioning it and it bothered me. That being said, the book wasn't bad per se, but it was far from great. I had expected something else, maybe even more, but at the same time, my expectations were pretty low to begin with... Overall, it was... cute? I mean, it wasn't exactly very steamy. At least not for me. It was a simple, fast forward with barely any angst - if any at all - read.
The Characters: The list is a bit long, so I put it in a spoilers tag.
Quick basic facts: Genre: - (Adult) Contemporary Romance (M/M) Series: - Series (Standalone?), Book One. Love triangle? - No. Cheating? - No. HEA? - Yes. Favorite character? - Ummmmm, good question... Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes. Would I recommend this book/series? - Unsure, and not really. Will I read this again in the future? - No. Rating - 2.5 stars.
Re-read July 2021 I still really like this one. It shows that a daddy/boy dynamic doesn't have anything to do with age.

This was quite a nice surprise. Such a sweet and angst free story.
Joey has been Ballsy Boys’ camera man for the last ten years. He considers himself straight, since all the gay porn has never done anything for him. Even though sex with women hasn’t been that big of a deal to him either. He’s just not that interested in sex at all actually.
When his mom can’t live by herself anymore because of her Alzheimer’s, Joey moves to Las Vegas to be closer to his mother and to help his father out. But now he needs another job.
Luckily Bear, the owner of Ballsy Boys, tells Joey that his good friend Hunter is starting a new porn business in Vegas, Kinky Boys. And he’s looking for a camera man.
When Hunter meets Joey he cannot believe his luck. Joey is the best in the business and now Hunter has him. But it’s not only his skills with the camera that Hunter admires, the man himself holds Hunter’s interest as well. But Joey is straight, so nothing can ever come of his attraction.
The two become really close friends while they are trying to get everything together to get Kinky Boys off the ground. And it is not long before Joey sees why most people call Hunter ‘Daddy’. It seems Hunter can’t shut that part of himself off, and Joey doesn’t want him to. Actually, he would like for Hunter to become even more involved in Joey’s life….
This was quite the sweet story. I’m not always sure what to expect with books featuring porn, but this was just cute. Joey was adorable in his thoughts that he could not be a boy at 40 years old. Even though he clearly was the perfect boy for Hunter.
The daddy kink was nicely done and I loved how Hunter took care of Joey. The sex scenes were hot, and I especially loved that they had to work up to it, since Joey was so insecure about sex and worried it would feel clinical like with women.
We got introduced to the guys who will do porn for Kinky Boys and I can’t wait to see how the author will handle romance while in the porn business in future books.
I have read the Ballsy Boys stories from these lovely lady’s writing team, and this is the beginning of the Kinky Boys set. Joey is straight and has been the Ballsy Camera man for 10 years. He needs to move closer to his folks in Las Vegas, so he accepts a job as Cameraman for the new studio Kinky Boys, and meets Hunter/Daddy. In his new place, Joey begins to see Hunter in a new light. Never before has gay porn interested him, but it’s not that, it’s Hunter himself. The man is a natural nurturer, and it appeals to Joey’s core. They become friends first, and then the Daddy/boy aspect interests Joey. Both men are about 40, and neither has felt this deepness. It’s a joy to watch their slow progression with inner thoughts, anticipation and fruition. They are hotter than the sun in their devotion and eventually their sexy times, with firsts for Joey. A bump in Hunter’s past comes up, and we see how they stick together. In the story, parents are involved, the Ballsy Boys, too. We get a marvelous story here, with book two coming to highlight another pair of men. Enjoy !
This book was super sweet, with some light Daddy kink. I liked that it was two older men, one of which is just beginning to realize what he wants from a relationship and what has always been missing.
Unfortunately, everything happened so smoothly and easily, there wasn't a lot to grab me in the plot. No drama, no angst. The men communicated beautifully. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but I felt like there needed to be something more to engage me in the story.
This is a cute story with an older, first time boy. I loved that Joey wasn’t a young twink. I think there’s a market for an older couple (though I refuse to say OLD since I’m still older than both MC). I was able to read this fairly quickly. I didn’t really feel lost by not having read any of the Ballsy Boys series. Only a couple of the previous characters make an appearance in this first story of the new series.
I liked that Joey was allowed to be confused about his reactions to Daddy. He’d never experienced attraction to a man. I would have been disappointed if he’d just jumped right into a relationship. I am, however, a bit disappointed in how fast he got over his confusion. That’s just my thought on it.
There is no relationship angst. There’s a little bit of family drama, but nothing that really overwhelms the story.
All in all, I enjoyed this and will definitely read the next in the series. I may even go back and read the previous series. It could happen.
I absolutely love the books these two write together and this was no exception to that enjoyment.
The Ballsy Boys series was a brilliant exploration of the workings of a gay porn studio and this spinoff takes us into the world of kink.
What I loved most about this was the age of the two MCs, who were in their 40s, and the beautiful experience of Joey realising his sexuality and his exploration of being a submissive boy.
These two authors are always a sure fire win when it comes to respecting the subjects they're covering and with Daddy that's just what the reader is given.
I liked the slowness of the relationship for sure since Joey was new to everything. The communication was good too and I liked how patient and understanding Daddy was.
The only problem is that that's pretty much all I liked about the book.
But the good thing is that this was the majority of the plot, so my rating can't be too low.
The other part of the plot — the part I wasn't particularly interested in — was just too uneventful for my taste. Nothing really happened and the few things that did happen were just too predictable.
Very fun, easy to read, and low angst, which is not always something I like but I thought it was well done here. I liked the chemistry between Hunter and Joey, though I liked it more towards the end as it seemed a bit sudden to me at first. I liked that they were both in their 40s, though I will say that Joey didn't really seem to act like a man in his 40s a lot of the time, but some of that is probably due to the nature of their dynamic. If you're looking for a well-written, low-stakes read, this might be good to pick up.
I really enjoyed the Ballsy boys so hearing about this spin off series felt like Christmas to me. Daddy was a decent way to start this new series. It was nice seeing how each guy was chosen and getting glimpses into what was to come.
As for the relationship aspect I enjoyed it. I really liked the same age d/s theme but often times forgot Joey was the same age as Daddy...he seemed so innocent and young. I expected a little more heat but for how the two were I think it worked out well being able to Joey realizes that oh heck maybe he isn’t so straight after all and seeing Daddy pine but still take care of him.
Overall, I liked Daddy and I’m really excited to see where this series goes especially after meeting everyone and seeing Joey’s little observations of them at the end.
Spoiler: my 17-year-old daughter is demisexual. The idea of not figuring out something that central to a person's interactions with other people until reaching your 40s? I nearly cried at the pain Joey had to have experienced when he was never sure what was wrong with him, not being able to make a physical connection without the emotional one. As a mother, I'm so glad my girl figured it out when she was young. And back to the review -- I loved this! We hadn't really seen much of Joey in the Ballsy Boys books, but he was there a little bit, and finding out more about him was wonderful. Hunter, too, we only met briefly, but he's a fantastic caretaker Dom. I'm really excited to read more about the new studio now!
I would give the story an avarage of 3 stars, because I could not judge the quality. The narration is horrible. Both men are identical and both sound like 13 year olds. On top of that, every sentence is read like it is a quip. It makes it hard to take the characters serious.
Joey wasn't “just” a cameraman for a porn studio, he was THE best in the trade. His skills had propelled the New York production studio to the top. He thought that it was because he was a straight man and didn't get distracted by what was going on around him...just made the scene all it could be. Then he hears from his aunt in Vegas that his parents need him, and as an only child he leaves his friends and career in New York and heads for Vegas. He's lucky that Bear, his friend and boss in New York, had a friend that was starting a studio in Vegas. A new production company would give him an opportunity to again do what he loves and watch out for his parents at the same time. Hunter has been the wrongly accused victim in New York and as a result is looking to make a fresh start in Las Vegas, far from the memories that haunt him and what happened to his boy. There is much more to this story than just gay romance or porn...although be warned...both are there. It's about self-realization, learning that who/what you are...is not wrong... as well as covering some subjects that are very often misunderstood along with a peek into a lifestyle that is much more prevalent and practiced in various degrees by people from all walks of life and social standings than is thought.
I particularly Loved that these men were in their fourties and enjoyed how that translated into the Daddy kink they both had as well as their relationship dynamics. There was no big misunderstanding and virtually no drama. Don't you just love it when characters act with maturity? I know I certainly do!
Also, although this was about a porn company setting up, It didn't have an over-abundance of sex. What it had complemented the story perfectly and I was glad for it.
Overall, the story was Nicely done with a wealth of secondary characters who are bound to have quite interesting backgrounds /stories in the subsequent books.
Overall it was still good. The storyline was uncomplicated which is nice when you just want something easy.
I really appreciate where they’re coming from with the whole “daddy dom dynamic defies ages limits” but it didn’t especially work for me. Or maybe more accurately it didn’t really appeal to me? Idk
Read this after finishing the Ballsy Boys series. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was ok but I didn’t totally gel with it.
One thing I really liked about this book was a DD/boy dynamic without an age gap. There was about 2 years between the main characters and I liked that it showed that this kink dynamic doesn’t rely on age gaps.
The Demi rep also felt like it was done well and I really loved Joey. The book was pretty low angst and a bit of a slow burn but it was cute and I enjoyed it. Gonna take a break now but I’ll probably come back to the rest of the series down the line.
What a sweet start to a series. I loved this daddy/boy story. I love how the Mc’s were loving towards each other, loved that they communicated, but most of all I loved that it wasn’t your usual daddy/boy relationship. I’m excited to read what the other characters will bring to this series. Great writing, hawt smexy, and lots of love
Great start to this kinky new series. Daddy and Joey are a great couple to kick this off with. Looking forward to see who our other couples will be?!?!
I adored this book so much more then I expected too, i haven't read any of the Ballsy boys but this was easy to read without missing anything although I might try them for Bear/Pixies romance.
Joey is probably one of my favourite characters in a while, I just loved him from the first moment and his exploration into sexuality was done incredibly well - I really felt with him on a lot of his thoughts and it was lovely to see him realise he wasn't alone that there was others like him.
I know not everyone likes labels but I'm with him in that it's a comfort to have one, that makes sense and others similar to you so not alone. I enjoyed that he wasn't sure at first and took time to figure out, also Hunter was incredible in his affection and understanding was so sweet.
The development is lovely and slow while they both figure out their relationship, the amount of affection and support for each other in their different situations was just beautiful.
Also the kink was perfect amount for me with Daddy and Joey it was adorable and hot, the chemistry between them is amazing from the start. So glad ageplay didn't come into it either, as very much with Joey on that while I understand others enjoyment of it that just doesn't interest me at all.
The cast hunting scenes and dates were a lot of fun, I enjoyed them so much as added a lot of humour and development for these two along with getting a look at the rest of the group.
Overall a great start to a new series, with a lovely couple and that perfect extra touch of kink. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the characters development and relationships, after some hinted at in this one. Up Rating from 3.5stars to 4.
To be honest this felt more like a prequel or just a short intro to the series. It was fine but almost no angst made it a little dull. I usually love these author's books but this one was not my favorite. Funny thing though, one thing that normally bothers me in books is when there's no communication or there are big misunderstandings, well there's none of that here. It's all about the communication between the two MCs here and that didn't make it terribly exciting. Maybe there could be a little miscommunication? LOL
I'm being generous giving this two stars. Super boring and the kink was not kinky. I know everyone's ideas on kink are different but this was damn near close to vanilla. Like maybe vanilla with a swirl of caramel or something, but not much more. I won't be trying anymore books in this series.
Daddy kink seems to be my new thing and more authors are featuring the topic so I get plenty of opportunity to read a favorite theme. This one was really well done and a bit of a departure from the often-used older/younger Daddy/boy story.
Hunter once owned a popular gay BDSM club in New York but the scandal after a terrible tragedy made him sell the business and move to Las Vegas where he's opening a porn studio focusing on BDSM and kinky MM sex. His friend, Bear, owns Ballsy Boys, a well-known porn studio and agrees to partner with Hunter to get this up and running. He even tells Hunter of his 40 yo cameraman, Joey, who is moving to the Vegas area to support his parents.
And that's what started a unique exploration of the Daddy/boy off-camera kink. Joey is 40 and could really care less about sex. He's not much aroused by the women he dates and isn't turned on by the sex scenes he's filmed for Ballsy Boys. Considering himself straight, he's surprised by how much the thought of Daddy Hunter turns him on and over the course of time, he realizes he might not be as straight as he thought. In fact, he learns he's demisexual and it took him all these years to find "his person," the man who turns him on, Daddy.
The story is very slow burn with a slow progression of sex between the two. Everything is explained and it's indeed safe, sane, and consensual. There are concurrent plots about Joey's parents and about the NY tragedy, but the focus is on the couple and Daddy's very slow introduction of BDSM and Daddy kink to his boy, Joey. I loved the fact that Joey was not a young twink and was not only 40 but somewhat slender and definitely not muscular. Daddy was kind and patient and very experienced.
All the threads of the plot were interwoven and each ended on a positive note with a strong possibility of HEA for Hunter and Joey.
What a great start to a new series! You wouldn’t think you’d get a sweet, fluffy, loving read from a series called Kinky Boys, but that’s exactly what you get here. I love that Joey isn’t your typical boy. He’s older, not a twink, and has thought he was straight for his entire life. It’s not until he meets Hunter(Daddy) that he realizes he wants more in life. And Hunter is so loving and patient with him. You can feel their love on every page. Super low, pretty nonexistent angst. And while this is a spin off of the Ballsy Boys series, I haven’t read any of those (yet) and it didn’t lessen my enjoyment at all.
The start of a spin off series that's fine on its own (I haven't read the original series and don't plan to) . I'm not a huge fan of porn star romances but I love kink so I gave this a shot. I loved that both MCs were older and good kink representation, with all the consent and communication.
-Daddy / Boy ( no age play) - Ace spectrum rep -spanking
I don't know what to tell you... I found the contrast in the two author's writing styles jarring at times, but overall, this book gave me all the warm fuzzies.
Daddy kink is my thiiiiing, and I loved this story! Sweet love story, a little bit kinky, ticking off all my boxes and fulfilling all my expectations. Great book.
Daddy is the first book in Nora Phoenix and K.M. Neuhold’s new Kinky Boys series, a spin off from the authors’ Ballsy Boys series. It sounds like Hunter and Joey both made appearances in the original series, and some of the Ballsy Boys characters, Bear and Pixie, in particular, appear here. However, I had no problem starting this new series having never read the first and I think this story stands alone just fine.
I think the authors take an interesting approach to the common out-for-you type storyline here in that it showcases how “straight” often is considered people’s default orientation. In this case, Joey has never really felt strong sexual attraction to either gender, but since he wasn’t into men, he just sort of assumed that meant he was into women. Yet, Joey has never really felt a strong sexual interest in anyone and, over the course of the story, he comes to explore his interests and attractions.
Hunter aka Daddy meets his match in Joey, his new camera guy. There's only one problem. Joey's straight.
I love the way these two interact. The intensity of their emotions and the little pieces of Joey's insecurities about being out of shape, being forty, having gray hair. Joey is an everyman. Joey is demi-sexual, and hasn't ever been attracted to any of his previous partners. An excellent book.
I'll 100% be re-reading this one. 5/5
