In a world where cursed spirits feed on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryomen Sukuna have been lost and scattered about. Should any demon consume Sukuna’s body parts, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there exists a mysterious school of jujutsu sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the supernatural!
Fushiguro and Reggie have nearly crushed each other to death. Reggie makes a move to break the stalemate and bring their battle to its climax! Meanwhile, Okkotsu disrupts the four-way standoff between jujutsu fighters in the Sendai colony, leading to a fierce battle involving reincarnated sorcerers and a special grade cursed spirit!
“Everyone is exhausted after Shibuya. Neither their mind, not their body can take this anymore.”
Here we have another action-packed volume... it was fine.
Okkotsu's return to the story, and the fact he was the focus, was a sweet detail and I appreciated getting to learn more about him but, I do have to say, that I feel less and less invested in this fights with random enemies every time.
There are some attempts at the more highbrow, philosophical, existential diatribes that we had in abundance in the earlier volumes but since they often come from characters I care little about they don't feel impactful in the least and seem a little out of place. They may be pertinent to the character we are currently engaging with - in this case Yuuta - but it just feels a little flat.
Not to say that the content we had for Okkotsu was boring or bad because we learned a lot about him and it was quite fun to see him in action, properly, for what is basically the first time.
Undubtfully, the crash from the absolutely brutal and mind-blowing Shibuya arc is too deep of a contrast to parse easily.
We need our characters to reunite and we need more established villains, but as it is for right now, this was a nice enough volume.
Sendai colony arc has only 5 parts as of today, but hell yea, I'm going to rate it 5 stars because it could go no wrong. THIS IS ACTUALLY AN OUTLET— I WANT TO FREAK OUT BECAUSE #178 HAPPENED TONIGHT. I'M GOING TO CHANGE THIS WHEN I FINALLY SEE THE TANKOBON EDITION HAHAHA. I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK!! AUGH I'M SO PUMPED UP RIGHT NOW, I MEAN, MAN, BATTLE OF THE DOMAIN EXPANSIONS. AUGH. Okkutsu better be the cover guy in this volume or else!!
By the way, hope Gege is doing fine now since he still released 178 this week albeit late. Thank you, Akutami-sensei. You're the best!! I was actually shocked by the way, esp. when I saw an article about his health declining... It's just so heartbreaking. Gege must be so worn out given the fact that this is updated weekly.
Haven’t read JJK in a while, so I forgot some of the Culling Games logistics. Even still, this was a really enjoyable volume because of the unique opponents Reggie, Uro and Ishigori. Plus, Yuta is back in the action; I love seeing his perpetually-tired face fighting once again.
How long will this manga continue? I feel like the end is in the near future. Also, what if Itadori survives his execution and his sunshine personality dies and he starts resembling Nanami and Higuruma? My poor baby!
Yuta is the focal point of the Sendai Colony arc which is great timing as it coincides with the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie release. Such a badass character!
Yuta, my boy. Come such a long way since JJK 0. And now, as a result of perfect coincidence, the release of his movie coincides with the release of his biggest arc in the manga. I'm so proud. 😭
No way you're reading this without getting excited at the mere prospect of Yuta going up against Ryu Ishigori, Takako Uro, and the curse spirit Kurourushi (a goddamn cockroach devil!!). This was fun, thrilling, and action-packed to the teeth! It by far has some of the most awesome moments in the series so far, and without any silly moments to dilute it all. Awesome!
Finally get more Yuta. But honestly this Culling Game arc feels like it’s already too long and it just started - it’s needlessly complicated and hurts my brain trying to understand fights
Okkotsu is back and he is SO COOL omg!! It was a lot of fun to watch him dominate his fights. I also really loved the way Fushiguro and Reggie's fight ended. However, the stakes don't feel that high at the moment and all the action is kind of dragging? Idk, I want to get back to the "main event" at hand, not just read these "smaller" fights.
Tremendo volumen, de lo mejor que he leído en este manga
- Reggie cae ante la astucia de Megumi. Excelente pelea, la he disfrutado mucho.
Excelente postre.

The fight between Megumi and Reggie concludes and so does the Tokyo Colony arc. We turn to Sendai Colony where the fights are even more brutal. Yuta is the highlight of this volume and it was amazing seeing him after a while. Ryu is also great addition in my opinion and reminded me of Kenpachi from Bleach. After reading Volume 0, my love for Yuta greatly increased so this was a good opportunity to get to see him more. Overall, it was a really enjoyable volume, can't wait for the next one!
“i won’t let you kill your best friend a second time.” heartbreaking, but it’s nice to see someone thinking about how that might impact gojo, at least that’s how i interpreted it. i enjoyed seeing yuta fight again, even though i didn’t particularly enjoy the parts with the roaches…grossed me out.
also, yuji picked his nose as a kid confirmed?… “you’re five and you don’t pick your nose? at his age, i was digging in.” good to know, thanks!
