I liked the Daniel X books so I expected to really like the graphic novel. But, not so much. The art was lacking and hard to follow. Without the story to provide emotions the art needed to step up. But it often fell flat. The story had some holes in it, too.
okay, to be honest, I've never read Manga before so I don't know how to rate this. I don't know if this book is considered a good manga but the art is beautiful and the story is good although I hoped for more action and details. the drawing of the villain is really stupid, though. I mean an Alien with a donkey's head -_- what is that? and the character is too young! a 15-year-old moving around countries and cities to fight evil? he should be at least 17. I'll read the other 2 books in this series cause I already bought them but I fairly enjoyed the story and the art
Daniel X Art: Clean. Oh thank you! After Twilight manga it may have been hard for yen to redeem it's self in some readers eyes however this manga does. The art is smooth and clean cut not shonen or shojo just art drawn by a guy who knows art and manga well. No nitpicks nothing is wrong with the art in fact just the opposite it should be praised on some pages nothing is photoshopped or done poorly. Line with changes when need be but its not jarring the screen tones are done well and everything fits the story A+
Characters: Daniel X, his friends, and aliens. There's no right word to really describe them. The aliens are bad (most of the time) with nothing deeper then that depending on their roll, Daniel's friends well are “special” lets say side cast with out being side cast but with big personality's. Then there is our protagonist Daniel. He is everything but angst: strong, hot, awesome, great, smart, funny the list goes on he isn't sterotypical and yes he has those moments of sadness but not to the point of emo despair. The characters are fun qourkiy, unique, awesome, and loveable A
Story: Reading this one cold turkey makes it more exciting and at the same time more confusing however that could also be because some readers (-cough-) might confuse this story with the pendragon series (>_>) but thats besides the point. What makes it more exciting is that unlike maximum ride manga or twilight manga the reader can't judge or point out flaws in the story line if there was any its a fresh story and fresh scifi, the downside about not knowing the original materiel first Daniel's ability to create things that are real, really work, breath, eat even but can disappear and reaper with a thought. To some Christian/catholic readers again this could be seen as playing God and be..unsettling. However that factor is explained and even though the physicalness of his creations is still a little unsettling it's not as bad and is accepted. So on to how is the story? Fantastic? Brilliant? Geronimo? Um wait sorry on that last bit. The story is something else it is amazing and great if not a little disturbing at times. Danial is an alien who is an alien hunter with a pretty cool ability and a little black book he is revenging the deaths of his parents and finishing their work on earth taking down baddies one day at a time. Everything clicks and is finished all in this one book so no messy cliffhangers though there is an endless ending thing going on in a way. A
This book is AMAZING!!!!! I usually don't read graphic novels but this one was recommended to me and I thought it looked interesting so I read and Boom! now I love it!
The book stars off weird with unknown things happening and it a bit hard to understand but then later on things get answered and it get clearer. It a very entertaining book with good arts and funny moments. There some character that look the same to character from other book made by the same author from two other book. And the end of the book leaves a sense of wonder and excitement.
Daniel X is the story of a young boy who was sent to Earth with his family to defend the human race from hostile alien criminals. When Daniel was little, he saw his family get brutally murdered by one such alien known as The Prayer. After barely escaping the bug like menace, he promised his deceased father that he would take his place as the Earth’s new Alien Hunter. I thoroughly enjoyed Daniel X all the way through. My favorite parts were the interactions between Daniel and his group of friends because aside from being funny, the characters always felt genuine, they felt like an actual group of friends albeit over exaggerated but still very enjoyable. One downside to this book is that it feels a bit rushed in some areas, and that it just jumps around from scene to scene with little transition, but that did not affect on my enjoyment of the graphic novel whatsoever. If you are a fan of science fiction, action, or thrillers, then Daniel X is certainly a book you should check out. It has a solid and interesting premise, the characters are endearing and memorable, the twists and turns the story takes are shocking and will keep you invested, and if you check out the graphic novel, the artwork is phenomenal and visually stunning. I give this book four out of five stars and would gladly read it again.
As a three year old Daniel witnessed the murder of his parents and although too young to have done anything to save them he still feels responsible. Twelve years later and Daniel is continuing the work his parents started, hunting aliens and protecting the earth. But always at the back of his mind are his parents and the one alien that killed them. One day he will find that alien, but in the mean time...
The list holds all the known alien threats on earth ranking them in order of most dangerous but when the list throws up an alien that is number six as the next to be handled, Daniel may have finally met his match. A new city and a new friend await Daniel in his search for a new alien, one more powerful then he has ever faced before and one that may inadvertently give Daniel the one thing he has been missing these last twelve years, that is if Daniel can live long enough to find it.
Daniel X as a graphic novel is a fresh and innovative way to introduce this exciting and comical story to a wider audience of people who, like me, have yet to read this series. As a superhero Daniel is young, vulnerable and charming, displaying a wide range of powers, exactly what you want in a main character. Daniel may always be alone in his quest against the aliens to save the earth, but he has the power to bring those he loves to him when he needs them most.
"Daniel X: The Manga" is a graphic novel adaptation of James Patterson's popular young adult sci-fi series. The book is illustrated by SeungHui Kye and is an action-packed adventure that follows the story of Daniel X, a teenage alien hunter who uses his powers to protect Earth from dangerous extraterrestrial threats.
One of the most significant aspects of the book is the stunning artwork. Kye's illustrations perfectly capture the fast-paced action and futuristic settings, bringing the story to life in vivid detail. The use of bold colors and dynamic panel layouts also add to the visual appeal of the book, making it a visually engaging and exciting read.
Another aspect of the book that stands out is the character development. Daniel X is a complex and compelling protagonist, with a tragic backstory that adds depth to his character. His relationships with other characters, including his friends and family, are also well-developed and add emotional weight to the story.
While the plot may be somewhat predictable for readers familiar with the Daniel X series, the graphic novel format allows for a fresh and exciting interpretation of the story. The book also contains some new scenes and plot elements that add to the overall experience of the story, making it an enjoyable read even for fans of the original novels.
Overall, "Daniel X: The Manga" is an action-packed and visually stunning adaptation of James Patterson's popular series. It's a great read for fans of sci-fi, action, and graphic novels, and is sure to leave readers on the edge of their seats.
This book was really good, but I actually can't compare it to the actual version because I haven't read it! I actually regret reading this book because once I did, the first book In the Daniel X series was completely ruined! Unlike Maximum Ride, the books in this series are short, so each one can have its own graphic novel. And the graphic novel was so good that I ended up not reading the first Daniel X book! I started the second because I know everything about the first book because I read this!! NOOOOOOOO! I hate when that happens, so I'd recommend this, but you have to read the actual book first!
I like the story, but some of it was confusing to me. Daniel was able to make replicas of his parents and friends. This confused me because the original ones died, yet he was still considered an orphan, Also in the Manga, it mentioned that Daniel was an Alien. He was on another planet towards the ending. Even The grandmother was alive, so couldn't the grandmother have been Daniel's guardian instead. That way Daniel wouldn't need to create more parental. replicas. I think the Manga was a bad choice to read. I wanted to familiarize myself with the story. It's the only reason why I am rating it 3 stars.
I did not know that James Patterson penned graphic novels, yet alone they would be worth the read! Daniel X harkens me back to my high school days when I was first introduced to manga. The protagonist is interesting and has a compelling back story but Patterson does not weigh the reader down with exposition. Instead we are thrust right into the action to see whom Daniel X has to hunt next! Looking forward to reading more.
I have loved many James Patterson books in my like and that includes the original Daniel X books. I was not sure what to expect with this book but for the most part it did not disappoint. I loved everything about form the art work to the writings style. The only thing that I found disappointing was the lack of certain parts of the story line that the original book had. For instance, I am fairly certain that Daniel found the missing girl on the ship in the end.

I wanted to try this because I love the art, but this is falling dangerously close into Mary Sue territory. Just like Maximum Ride, he has an insane amount of powers, for no explicable reason. And I'm waiting for the author tract to come that has nothing to do with the plot. (I'm looking at you Maximum Ride book 4). But I'm willing to give this a shot. Because manga can make it better.
The Daniel X books really don't have the most fleshed out characters, but the action with Daniel's super overpowered abilities just make this always a blast. And now in manga form? Like, honestly this is amazing.
This book was really confusing to follow because it jumped to each part of the story without ever building a good base. I never felt like I knew who the characters are and his power is just too broad. It makes for a lot of plot holes.
Does not stray from the original novel at all and I had a great time reminiscing on my moments first picking up the title. I feel as though the story is a little rushed and generic of superhero genre types but a good story for young children otherwise.
This is a story about a boy that this mother and father dead from creature from a another world. This boy has a gift that he can turn in somethings and he can do the illusion.
