The story and Sometimes sequels don't live up to the previous book, but that wasn't the case with Off Balance. It was just as lovely as the first one. The story and plot remained interesting, the book was quite engaging. Everything about it was consistent with the first one, the characters, the pacing, the writing... It's an amazing continuation to the series. I can't wait for more.

This is one of the best science fiction books I’ve ever read. Reading A Beginning at the End feels like once in a lifetime experience. It was fresh, endearing and heartwarming, while being suspenseful and thrilling at the same time. The writing and the world building were excellent. They captured my attention from the beginning and kept it throughout. I loved the characters as well, the more I read the more connected I felt to them, and this kept the story dynamic and interesting. The plot pacing started off a bit slow, but once things connected, it picked up and I fell in love with the book even more. In the end, I found this book to be uplifting and unique. I can’t recommend it more, and I look forward to reading more from Mike Chen in the future.

Original review (August 30th 2019): This novella is really hard to put down. The premise is so intriguing, and it's more than enough to captivate you by itself, but the writing is also amazing, and so you can't let go of the book until you've finished it. The worlds that are created and described are so interesting It's all so well paced, and the story is engrossing, from the beginning, all the way to the twist right at the end. It some of the best sci-fi I've read. I recommend it.

A huge thanks to Wednesday Books for the e-arc and the chance to be a part of this blog tour.
While The Raging Ones weaved a story of intrigue and mystery, and topped it off with one hell of a cliffhanger, The Last Hope picked up where the previous book left off, tangled the story further, then untangled it, and it was all so fun to witness. The Last Hope is one of the most unputdownable sequels I’ve ever encountered. The connection I felt to the characters when I read the first book was not lost in the second. The writing flowed very well, even with the multiple POVs. I really enjoyed how the plot was set up, the pacing was good, but so was the way the events transpired, it gave me enough time to get to know the new characters before the rest of the old ones joined in, and it didn’t cause me much confusion. The story was incredible, so engaging, and unpredictable. The mixture of romance and friendship was beautifully balanced with the action of the plot. It was so enjoyable. I recommend The Last Hope, especially if you’ve read the first book. If not, why not pick up both? You won’t regret it.

Okay. So. I've had this book on my e-shelf since maybe last year, and I joined the blog tour for the sequel before I read it (I know, I live on the edge 🙃). Now I'm wracking my brain about how I should've read it sooner cause damn, I enjoyed every bit of it. [image] I'm gonna read the sequel next cause I need to know what's going to happen (though I'll forget all about it and will probably need to read it again so I can write a review before the tour stops by my blog). For the last year I've been mostly feeling like I'm on autopilot with reading. But I've been on a general upward trajectory with what I've been reading lately and it's bringing back my love for goodreads and updates and blog posts and reviewing in general, and I couldn't be happier about it.

Off Planet is an intriguing and fun introduction to the Aunare Chronicles series. I really enjoyed the world the story is set in, it's vividly described and easy to immerse yourself into. The plot is strong and well-paced, it's interesting, it's what makes this book so good. All the characters are well-developed, but Maité is especially easy to relate to. The writing flows beautifully, it's easy to consume and it kept my attention throughout. This is a great book and YA sci-fi fans should definitely give it a shot.

If you're a fan of well executed plot twists with Malice you're in for a treat. I found myself guessing along the way, only to be absolutely mistaken for the most part. Dunn's leading ladies are always stellar, so I knew not to expect anything less. Alice was well developed, executed in a way that it was impossible not to feel for her. Bandit was one hell of a love interest, and the relationship between him and Alice was dynamic and fun to experience, their interactions as well. I have to note that all characters felt nuanced, I have a hard time picking who was my favorite. I loved the world-building. The idea behind it all, the mechanics of the world were fun and unique. The story was engrossing, and the plot was paced to my liking. That, along with Dunn's writing style, made Malice hard to put down. I recommend this book. I think it's an amazing addition to YA, and with it's perfect balance of sci-fi, romance and thriller, it's a book that you shouldn't skip.

Much like in Infinity, the characters shine in Omega, but this time they’re dealing with a slightly more complex situation. I liked the shift in focus, it’s always interesting to experience a story from a different character’s POV. In this case there were two new POVs, and at moments it could get repetitive, but it was still fast pace and intriguing throughout, especially to me as a huge romance fan. Accardo’s style is consistent, pleasant to read, and I can’t wait to see what she’ll bring plot-wise in the next one.

There's more flow to the writing and it manages to capture the atmosphere of the scenes very well. The plot points and the story are much clearer. The story itself is continued well too. It starts to answer some questions about the world the book is set in, while also keeping it mysterious enough to keep one's interest. I really enjoyed the book, and I'm looking forward to everything that's to come in the series.

Pintip Dunn gave us the perfect conclusion to the breathtaking series. Seize Today provides all the answers while presenting an interesting and unexpected plot. It was a joy to read, it was really intriguing, and I was unable to put it down. Mrs. Dunn’s writing style is consistent, and as always, her characters simply shine. For a decent chunk of the 00s and 10s (good) YA standalones were hard to find. Every kind of successful release got a sequel. So actually getting an organized, well-developed series that has one invested on every page, a series with memorable characters and an original plot behind it feels like a blessing. That’s what Pintip Dunn brought to the table with this series, it’s why you should pick it up if you haven’t. I doubt that you’ll be disappointed.

I have a hard time falling in love with sci-fi reads. It takes me a few tries, especially The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that one took me years. It's easier for me to follow it when it's on screen I guess, and most of my favorite movies are sci-fi (here stood a comment about how Arrival deserved an Oscar, but has since been deleted due to a few swear words and caps. it was all in caps). So when I read that it's a first-contact type of story, that's what I expected. But this book so much more. It's not a typical form, and the story is told masterfully, painting a vivid picture of Lagos, Nigeria. I can't find the words to express myself with this one, that's how beautiful it is....more
