There is a lot of complexity and plot twists in the story. It was a little bit confusing at the beginning, and a tiny bit slow, but at the end I was shocked and was wondering how I did not notice some of the earlier cues and details. ...more

To me, the book felt as a recipe mix of a few other popular books: - The Hunger Games - survival not by choice - Harry Potter - school alliances, magic - Game of Thrones - dragons, high death rate - Twilight- Romance - Fifty Shades of Grade - descriptive sex scenes
I liked the story itself and the fast pace. What I disliked was that we didn't need to know every little thought that passes Violet's head. Plus, there were some inconsistencies in the story. Minus one entire star for being so cringy. ...more

I loved the story and the characters and laughed a lot. Different characters cover many stereotypes, making their actions even more entertaining. There are a few dark and traumatic moments in the story that are passed too lightly.
Elizabeth Zot is a fantastic role model, and I would love to watch Supper at 6. I loved all the chemistry references too.

"Earthlings" is a total emotional rollercoaster.
One word to sum it up - weird. Two words to sum it up - hilariously outrageous.
"Earthlings" touches on similar topics as "Convenience store woman" - conforming to social norms, and it is told in the same simple, naively funny way. Sayaka Murata has a unique and witty style of writing, and she enjoys shocking people and most of all satirizing the Japanese society.
What a cynical book! I guess I will think about this story every time I go to the GP now. :D It's definitely a book you can't unread.

"Summer house with swimming pool" is a genuinely disconcerting book. I was lucky to be reading the tragic event from the story at 2 am and after the shock, I could not sleep any more that night. As a result, I did not touch the book for three days and finished it right after that.
The story is enthralling, well written and thought-provoking. The characters are well-built, and some of them I even liked for a bit.
The author, Herman Koch, has done a great job challenging the readers psychologically and making them wonder who is the biggest villain in the story. ...more

The author of this brilliantly written novel, Neil Gaiman, is the God of storytelling.
After I finished the story, I asked myself, "How did that happen?". It is a mix of so many different elements which I would think can't ever be included in one book. But it is a fact - the book exists, and it feels like a spell when you are reading it.
- "Different places grow different foods. Go far enough south there are orange trees, lemon trees, and those squashy green guys, look like pears…" - "Avocados." - "Avocados," agreed Whiskey Jack. "That's them. They don't grow up this way. This is wild rice country. Moose country. What I'm trying to say is that America is like that. It's not a good growing country for gods. They don't grow well here. They're like avocados trying to grow in wild rice country."
I would recommend it to people looking for an adventure or running from a storm. The Gods are waiting…...more

Пипи винаги е била вдъхновение за мен и нейните истории са ми донесли много забавления. Помня, че я носих навсякъде с мен, дори и когато берях малини на село. Тази книга направо я чувствам като част от мен самата и ми е много носталгична и емоционална. ...more
