What I liked: -Again, this is a great premise. -It was a solid story that tied up nicely.
What I didn't like: -The FBI was always behind, and a lot of space was used up listening to them think about the crime and trying to figure out things the reader already knows. I did not like that. -There is a long warp-up in which one of the characters explains everything that happened. I'm not a fan of needing pages to explain what happened. -The twists were part of the explanation, so instead of an "Oh, wow!", it was more of I get it, but did not impactful.

This woman was the hero's first love, he felt jilted at high school graduation and disappeared from that life. He hears of her missing, and now a former SEAL and ex-NYPD cop, goes to see what he can find out. So much happens, very good and worth the read.
What I liked: -Great first chapter. -Good writing. -The story kept my attention all the way to the end. That was good. -It was a cleaver plot. -The new girlfriend and her asst./friend were a nice couple of charters. -You will find a speech a tough teacher gives Melody. I really liked it. Great writing there and it even moved me.
What I didn't like: -There are many, many POV slips. It is not much of a problem, but as an author it stood out to me. -It is too wordy, but the writing is good. Not too distracting. -I was trying to decide if the story line was wrapped up. Maybe, but there were a lot of open issues at the end of the story. The story was good, and no one seemed to think it was a cliff hanger if you read other reviews, so I may be too picky again.
Over all: My didn't likes were picky, but I strongly recommend. You should like this book....more

What I liked: -As I Great start! Interesting, with some good bad guys, unexpected, them some art comes into the story. It had some bumps but ended well.
What I liked: -As I said, great start. -The bad guys. -Involvement of paintings, some real some forgeries. -The business of the good guys, and the raising money. -The old painter/artist and his caregiver. -There were some very good little passages here and there.
What I didn't like: -Too much back story really slowed the book down about 50% in, them picked up. -And again at 70%, way too much backstory on the paintings and WW II. Skipped over, skimmed as best I could. -The end slid in okay, but the best, for me, was the beginning....more

All women, including female children, could only say 100 words a day. In the United States, run by men, women have virtually no rights. This was a very special story, and everyone, men and women, should read it. I am personally scared the United States may be headed in a similar direction.
What I liked: -The premise was GREAT!

Del Honeycutt inher"You come from a long line of idiots!" One of the best first lines I have ever read in a novel, and it just gets better from there.
Del Honeycutt inherits an 85-year-old mystery that flips his life on its head. The story weaves with a pace that keeps the reader hooked, layering factual elements into a richly fictional world. I loved the WW II bomber scenes.
Del, with an unexpected companion, delves into their shared legacy, uncovering a crime their great grandfathers committed, and hunting for the hidden proceeds. The engaging characters follow a narrative that doesn’t slow down, with twists to the end.
The plot grips from the get-go. The story deepens, escalating towards an unforeseen conclusion that makes this a 'must-read.'
Cunningham crafts more than just a mystery; it's a treasure hunt laced with humor and historical intrigue. The protagonist's dialogue is sharp, witty, and self-deprecating, striking a balance that avoids the trap of overdone humor. It’s a great blend of wit, action, and puzzle-solving that elevates the novel to a standout stature. ...more

They want the US Vice President dead, an anesthesiologist saves his life when they try to kill him. Pissed, they try to kill him too and take another shot at the VP.
What I liked: -Written by an anesthesiologist, the details are all right. That added a lot to the story, knowing the medical details were right. -Who wanted the VP dead? The President, his chief of staff, the Russians with a Russian neurologist who's an expert at reading brain scans. -The story flows well. -The wife with help saves her hubby in an induced comma ready to get his organs harvested.
Very mixed feelings, but interesting. -This book was published in 1955, no cells, computers, etc. I was born in 1953, so I keep relating to the time. -TVery mixed feelings, but interesting. -This book was published in 1955, no cells, computers, etc. I was born in 1953, so I keep relating to the time. -Tom Ripley barely feels like a psychopath, but there's enough to make that argument. He is definitely an opportunist and has little feelings for anyone. -The story, Ripley becomes friends with a man he takes big advantage of in Italy.
What I liked: -In the beginning, I liked the location in Italy around Sorrento, been there, so I could really picture it. -The early interactions with the three of them were interesting. -There were a couple of brutal murders that came as a big surprise that, although not graphic, still made me cringe. I will not forget those two scenes.
What I didn't like: -Tons of description, too much. -Repeating information from different perspectives. -Tom Ripley thinking about all the possibilities you know will never happen. Waste of time and boring. -It ended flat. The story wrapped up, but no surprise at all....more

I liked this story forVery interesting in the beginning! After fifteen years in prison, the Baby Carriage Killer gets a new shink, Dr. David Rothberg.
I liked this story for maybe 60%, then it moved out of prison, then back in, and it picked up my interest again...then the ending happened. I wouldn't say I liked the ending.
What I liked: -All the scenes in the prison. -The interaction of Dr. Rothberg and Janko, the prisoner, and the other characters. -This was a unique and exciting book until the trip to NY. It still held my interest.
What I didn't like: -Dr. Rothberg's obsession with big breasts in his inner thoughts. -The ending. Up in the air.
I wasn't sure why: -The little turtle Dr. Rotherberg took care of for a sick child. It didn't seem to add to the story for me. But it was a cute addition. -His associate, an older lady, was carrying a Desert Eagle...a monster of a weapon for an older lady to carry around as a concealed weapon.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, but if you hate a cliff hanger ending, maybe not....more

An FBI agent goes to Rio to ID his father, who left his family years ago and was going under an assumed name with a new family in Rio. Just read it!
What I liked: -The setting. -The characters, cops, Nazi's, lost family, the preacher, etc. All good. -The action, it just keeps coming. -A good ending.
What I didn't like: -The only thing is many chapters started without helping the reader know whose POV it was; this was a little confusing for a page or two until I figured out who it was.

I feel Spike is a special and a unique story. I read a lot, and haven't read a story quite like Spike yet.
It is written in "third person limited," which means the reader will hear from many of the characters in their voice and what they think. The main character is a self-aware psychopathic serial killer, but charming. The first version was a little too dark, with too many of his inner thoughts. But I wanted to keep him true to his pathology. So he wants to kill, loves to kill, and must kill, and will kill. But to live an honorable life within the norms of society, he decides to try and kill only bad people.
I tried hard, in all my writing, to make the story exciting, realistic, and with lots of action and a storyline the reader could not predict.
To be honest: I was afraid it would not be received well, but it has exceeded my expectations. It was so much fun to write. I'd love a great 5-star review, but also, feel free to email me with a discussion you would like to have or questions about the novel. personal; email- [email protected]
I am hard at work on Spike 2, and trying to make it even bigger. Maybe Spike is doing what he does, but he also decides to run for a political office. He might be asking himself if some politicians are bad enough to warrant being one of his kills, too. It will be something to think about.
There are many choices to read; thank you if you read Spike, 35 Kills, and Smiling.
Warning: lots of violence, bad language, and a sex scene (not graphic

It's about a young aunt (Kensi) who inherits the Brannon house (the family house for over a century) as well as her niece (Ember) when the girl's mother commits apparent suicide.
There were many interesting tidbits: Kensi earns a living being a fake date. There is a yellow shoe missing from the suicide and the Brannon house. Haunted? I was very surprised the book slowly turned toward maybe the house is haunted.
This book was a steady burn for me. I liked it. And there is a little surprise at the end.
Strongly recommend it for something a little different and characters you like.

What I liked: -I loved the author's interpretation of what the ghost could and couldn't do. This is a really political and conspiracy thriller. A young woman is accused of murdering her coworkers and goes on the run. There is no one she can turn to, but a stranger picks her up on the road and gives everything he has to help this stranger. The book had many stages where I did not know where it was going, but it all came together at the end.
What I liked: -The voice in her head. -There was a great flying/action scene. -It was a complicated plot that was easy to follow and got tied up nicely. -The twists and turns. -The story's scope, from a secretary to a presidential candidate and others in the shadows. -The scope of the geography is DC to Alaska, through Vegas.
