The story was different, it wasn't you're same old sci-fi/dystopian plot with your same old fantasy/magic storyline. And is one of the things I really liked about it.
The ending! OMG! I'm having trouble putting into words of how enormous this cliffhanger was! It was huge! BUT! I didn't cry! I'm so proud of myself! I didn't cry! *pats self on the back*
But now the wait is on! Release of book 2 is May 2015?!?!...more

They would be talking about doing something in their present time and all of a sudden they would be in the middle of a memory of something that happened the night before or last week.
Also the whole idea of the storyline broke my heart a little. I cannot imagine leaving the memory of a family member that I loved so much that it very nearly broke me in two behind and never even visting their grave. So I understood Emma and Peter's sense of betrayal.
I thought it was so touching that Emma and Peter helped each other find a comfortable place with their pain an sadness. And though the romance was awkward at first, it turned out to be sweet and tener.
I thought that the way their situations were so alike was just a little genius. The way their families wouldn't and couldn't ever talk about how the huge loss they suffered affected them and in by keeping quiet, couldn't prevent this inevitable outcome of Emma and Peter's journey of how to cope with their own loss and their families inability to grief with them.
It wasn't a sugary, gushy romance and I would even recommend it to younger teens because there wasn't anything inappropriate in the text. ...more

I really liked it! I absolutely loved the the discriptions of all of the different mer people! Donnelly paints a very vivid picture of all the diiferent types of fish and sea animals that made up the underwater communities.
I loved how they sang their spells! How fiery and fiecre Sera, Neela and the other mermaids were. They were strong heroines, fighting for their people and loved ones.
I wished there was more romance though. I wanted to get to know Mahdi more. And Mr. Blue, Mr. Green and Mr. Gray! Love those names by the way! And with the ending I can't wait until Jan 2015 to find out what happens to them all!...more

I wished there was more world building, but I get that it was supposed to be a big mystery because the story is told from Tella's POV and going into this race she has absolutely no idea what is going on and why.
But it had a false ring to it, like I was being force fed the plot. Tella just takes it on fact that she has to enter this compition to win this cure and save her brother. Even when countless times she heard and saw things that should have made her question WTH is going on!
Tella's character is superficial and shallow at times, but funny and snarky at others. I liked her Pandora too, Madox was pretty cool fox to have as a companion to help her when she needed it.
I'm struggling on how to rate this because not only was it predictable but also not knowing how the race worked and sometimes it was so much like Hunger Games that I was taken aback, I found that I wasn't liking it much.
But at the end when I got to learn more about what was going on and why things were happening the way the were and learning about the powers that be in the race and (view spoiler)[ Guy wanting to take them down (hide spoiler)], I found I wanted to know what is going to happen in the next book. So I'm just going to go with it's just ok and I'm not sure if I will read the next book or not....more

I loved Damian and Rylan's characters too, but Damian won my heart. At first he seemed weird to me because he was so surly and cryptic, but when he wasn't so uptight he was really sweet.
I really liked the story too. The world building was great and I loved it when I there was another layer revealed and more secrets of the plot and subplots uncovered. Some I saw coming and some I didn't, some hit me really hard and I couldn't help but get all emotional.
I'm wondering what is going to happen in the sequel! Because of the ending and I have to say that I wanted to strangle Alexa! I mean do see her reasoning and logic, from her POV (view spoiler)[ with her face scared from burns from a black sorcerer's fire, she wouldn't think she was worthy of Damian's love and attention. I just hope that Damian doesn't get in his head that he has to make her jealous! Because that will only make me mad! But I do feel like there will be a girl/woman who will be vying for his attention and I think maybe she will be the new bad guy in the story! (hide spoiler)]

I'm so blow away by the events that happened in the story that I'm still reeling! Again with the twists and turns, surprises around every corner, not to mention the last couple of chapters had me on the edge of my seat I was practically standing from the anticipation.
The triangle! I was Team Jeb from the beginning, but seeing more of Morpheus, getting to know him better and his softer side...well, now I'm torn. Jeb is such a sweet guy, charming and funny, plus Alyssa knows where she stands with him. There's no guessing, no games. But with Morpheus, he's infuriating and enchanting at the same time. He draws you in and you just want to get lost in his gaze and forget everything else...until he says or does something that makes you want to smack him!
Just as captivating and fascinating, creepy and weird as Splintered. But, I did miss the nonsense talk and riddles like in book 1. I hope there will more of that in Ensnared and I can only imagaine what trouble Alyssa and whoever tags along will get themselves into....more

It had a lot of the same aspects of some other popular dystopian books that I have read, but it was still original in the world building and the storyline that I couldn't help but love it!
I loved Cia's character, she was so smart and so observant. She took on problems with a calm and calculated manner. She was so strong and determinded that she made my list of favorite female protagonists.
My mind is still blow away as I'm trying to write this review! What else do I say and not give anything away??
"Trust no one."
Seriously! This book is defintely worth reading! I will probably be telling everyone who will listen they need to read this book!

It was really good! Eleanor's character has really grown with this book, she's definitely stronger and more powerful that in the first book. Daniel, Joseph and Jie are just as great as in the book 1, though I thought Daniel in a monocle was just ridiculous!
I love layers in a book and the more the better! I love trying to figure out who is bad and what the end game is and while something where predictable, some things I didn't see coming and really shocked me!

There were some typos and inconsistencies, nothing I thought was huge but that kind of thing doesn't bother me. I liked the idea of the story, thought it was cute and I liked Olivia's and Zach's characters. Although my favorite character was April, Olivia's friend, she was funny and a good friend.
I thought the story was a little predictable, just the reason for Zach's issue with Olivia in the first place. The rest I didn't expect, especially the end, I mean I kept thinking that there still something coming but I didn't expect what did happen in the end.
I would get the other 2 book in this series, I'm really curious to know what happened with Rebecca and Scott and what will happen between them. Also April and Troy I really want to know what happens with them, so I'll probably buy the other books....more

I loved it!! I loved the writing! I loved how it reminded me of If I Stay and Where She Went!!!! I even read the teeny tiny, little bitty excerpt for the next book, which I don't normally do just because I don't want to torture myself until the next book comes out!! But! I needed to read it, because this book consumed me so much that I had to absorb everything I could get!!!
I loved Allyson's character! She is so sweet and her story made me want to go on a trip and have accidents!! And get lost!! And discover things about myself that I didn't even know were there!! Their romance was perfect!! Willem made me swoon!! I loved that he opened doors for her that she didn't know were there! I loved how he awakened something in her that made her think differently about her life and about everything!!
This will be one of my favorite stories and I will miss them until Oct comes so I can read from Willem's POV!!! Oh!!!! I can't wait!! :D...more

She goes to London on a field trip for school and ends up being buddies with crazy and obnoxious Jason, who is always pulling pranks and goofing off. They get issued temp cell phones while on their trip, and Julia starts receiving texts from someone named "Chris" after going to a party with Jason, getting drunk and flirting with a bunch of guys, now she doesn't remember Chris but thinks that maybe with Jason's help and some rule breaking she will let loose and meet this mystery guy and have some fun on her trip.
I liked Morrill's writing, the characters were really funny, story was very cute and sweet. I liked the little text messages before each chapter. Some of the situations Julia and Jason got them selves into have me laughing so hard I could hardly contain myself. Julia is kind of a goody two shoes and Jason is one of those boys that are impulsive and acts before he thinks. There were a few things that I wished Julia would have addressed with him instead of letting them slide. And every time he called her "Book Licker", in my head I kept hearing "Boot Licker" no matter how many times I'd try to read it slow it would still come out "Boot Licker" LOL. But I loved it anyway, i loved the romance, all the little adventures they went on, and the ending, it was very sweet....more

Usually when I read a book I get attached to the characters, I mean really attached! So attached sometimes if anything bad happens to them I'm a complete mess, shoulders shaking and snot crying sobs. With this story I became very very attached to Verity, Maddie and Jamie, I loved their friendship and their love for each other! It was so beautiful and this story will be forever one of my favorites!!
This story is a little slow at first, but it's all ground work for everything that is going on. You don't see what is actually happening until the 2nd half. All questions get answered in the end! That's all I can really say about it without giving anything away, I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!!...more
