Extinction Machine (Joe Ledger, #5)

First off, I have to admit that I *hate* alien conspiracy theories. Really. A lot. You couldn't get me to read a book about the crash at Roswell or alien abduction or any of that stuff if you held a gun to my head---unless Jonathan Maberry wrote the book. Then I'm all there, jumping in with both feet. And, as expected, Maberry made the topic both plausible and entertaining. It wasn't nearly as annoying as I expected and the return of Joe Ledger makes it all worth while. Maberry manages to make Ledger both super-human and all-too-human. I actually believed he could fall for the girl he does, even though she is so very different from him. It's also nice to see Rudy's character develop further and even Top and Bunny are becoming rounder as the series progresses. I'm afraid Maberry may have gotten himself a permanent gig here, writing Joe Ledger novels. His fans won't let him quit.
