Great improvement over Prudence in plot, characterization, and vivacity! Many thoroughly enjoyable moments and revelations. Only negative factor is how much I disliked the romance.

Prudence and her paramour have zero chemistry. And love? Nope. Didn't feel it AT ALL.

But the plot is so much better!

Alex I LOVED the Parasol Protectorate and the Finishing School series' but from what I've read about the books centred around Prudence (both in reviews and the blurb) I feel no inclination whatsoever to read the books...it's a shame.

Alice Totally agree with the romance thing, I like both Quesnel and Rue but their whole story was mostly annoying and it wasn't very believable.. .
(however I wasn't so found of the plot of that book either. I actually preferred Prudence's aha)
