First off, ignore all the one star reviews on Amazon. I have a hunch why a load of reviews like that showed up which I will discuss end of this review. Second, I have NEVER read a book so fast, nor have I EVER had my heart in my throat the whole time I was reading. The pace is fantastic and does not let up. Third, kudos to the author, a former flight attendant. The plot points, the grammar, the character description, the unending thrill ride did not disappoint. I have to say I have never read a book that was this captivating with thrills.
I will not spoil with story because that is the fun of it to be thrust head long into the unknown of this engaging novel that I have discovered film rights have been secured. Oh boy now that will be the true ride!
The author wrote at the end of the book that she wrote the story at 38,000 feet on the red eye while passengers were sleeping. Her query posed to agents was rejected multiple times. I have to say they are eating crow now because Falling became a National Bestseller!
My sister read the book as part of a book club and could not wait to tell me about it. So now I am telling all of you. We know the genre -- thriller and even though it may seem like the typical airplane nail biting scenario, the author takes you on a roller coaster ride that will get your heart beating a little too fast. Buckle up readers!
To address the trolls giving this work of fiction thumbs down: after you read the book, what notions you are left with may be: the plausibility of the action, who would be apt to lose money and PR by the contents of this book and any political bent that points an accountable finger could be the reason why the negative responses. There is a beautiful metaphor you will read at the end that may startle but I caught on right away. A not so hidden message written in. Brava T.J. Newman.
