4/5⭐️ and 2.5/5🌶️ on the spicy scale. I was so happy to read about the second gen and it was definitely worth the wait. Just when you think things can't get darker, they absolutely do in this book and I binged it in one sitting because I was hooked.
Seraphina, better known as Phi, is Rook's daughter and she has a such fiery personality and is so sassy which I adore. She is harbouring a huge secret that has made her withdraw from her family and push them away so they don't get hurt by the trauma and guilt she is carrying. She tries to act indifferent with everyone around her but that is where Jude Sinclair steps into the picture and forces her to confront the demons she has been fighting.
Jude has long been suffering because of the last name he carries. Everyone shuns him away and always compared him to his father. Jude hated that with his whole being and just wants to start afresh in a place no one knows him. But when Phi accuses him of something he is not a part of, he becomes riled up and plans to make her regret getting his attention.
Every interaction with Phi and Jude was so tension filled. The way their banter and antics kept going back and forth was so entertaining and I loved every moment of it. One thing that made me melt was when Jude made Phi finally understand that she was not alone especially with him and in their universe. The soft spot he had for her was truly heartwarming and vice versa. These two were meant to be star-crossed lovers and it was worth it till the end.
Another aspect which I liked was seeing the Hollow Boys as fathers and uncles. They truly are such great dads and it was such a treat to see that they have not changed their ways at all.
The only gripe I had was with the pacing towards the end. It was slightly rushed and I was expecting more closure for Phi especially. But overall, this was a fun read and I am looking forward to more of the second gen ✨
